Ghanzi is known as the gateway to the Kalahari, which is part of the huge sand basin that reaches from the Orange River up to Angola, in the West to Namibia and in the east to Zimbabwe. Because it lies close to the Gaborone – Maun – Namibia fork in the Trans-Kalahari Highway, it is convenient stopover for all three. Ghanzi is also known as the cattle and game ranching capital of Botswana and situated in its heart, is Kalahari Arms Hotel. We have facilities to suit the need of every traveler – family rooms, executive rooms, en-suite chalets or you can pitch your tent on one of the campsites. The restaurant offers meals from all around the world designed to satisfy taste buds. The bar stocks a variety of mature wines and beverages.

The Establishment has a potential of becoming a high class provider of hospitality. There is urgent need to train staff in customer care and effective communication. The bath tubs in the Executive look really marvelous. However, we need to be conscious of customer safety. It would have been nicer if the tubs had handles. Besides, there's need to include showers in the executive rooms to afford the guests a choice because tubs were not meticulously cleaned or at least there could have been the cleaning materials for the guest to clean the tubs themselves!

Excellent option for business travel. Clean, great service and the rooms are tastefully decorated and clean. The refurbished property is got a warm city hotel feel, and the more traditional thatch rooms give options to those looking for the more traditional type of lodging.

The WiFi was particularly good, and the rooms were quiet . The bar area quiet lively with a lot of guests having drinks and socializing after dinner which was a full buffet.

Upon arrival we were told that the hotel could not honor our two night booking and were surprised that our travel arranger had not told us. It’s not clear to me who was at fault but it wasn’t a nice introduction to the hotel. It ended up working in our favor as we spent the second night at a place we liked far better (Symponia, see my review). The rooms are an interesting mix of rondavels (which are the original rooms and didn’t seem to be occupied), more traditional hotel rooms, and “duplex” bungalows. I was in 608. The room was a reasonable size and relatively comfortable. There was a fridge and the Internet worked reasonably well. The AC was pretty weak and might not have done a very good job of cooling the room if it had been hotter out. The mattress was really hard as were the pillows. There is a sizeable pool which didn’t look super clean but it was still a nice place to sit and relax. The restaurant has an extensive menu and the pizza was surprisingly good if a little heavy on the cheddar. The wait staff were efficient and gave my colleague a free scoop of ice cream after they realized that they didn’t have any buns left for her burger. My other colleague wasn’t impressed with her beef dish as it was dry and salty. The breakfast buffet was pretty good, particularly the omelette I had made. The hotel is centrally located but we’ll be staying at the Symponia in the future. Did I mention that it (Symponia) is also cheaper?

All staff at Kalahari Arms go the extra mile to give you that feeling of being at home, while out and about. The breakfast-team, the housekeeping, the people at the service desk, all were more than willing to give you a feeling of being welcome.
The room was good, the airco did what it needed to do: create a comfortable temperature to get a good nigts rest.

We stayed twice within a week , the chalets are in urgent need of some maintenance , the drains stink beyond believe , or are blocked and water overflows from the shower tray.
On the second stay we choose the executive room , slightly better but still stinking drains.
The price charged at this accommodation is in no relation to any acceptable norm.

A really lovely hotel with great food, service and staff. However they have a serious cat problem. There is a whole colony of unsterilzed cats running all over the place. There was a big ginger Tom that kept fighting with all of the other cats all night hence no sleep. One of the poor cats even fell off the roof. The hotel honestly needs to work with Maws and get the cats sterilized

The hotel gives off a very serene ambience, a little escape from reality. The room was clean, had all needed amenities and it had modern finishes to it.
Each meal was prepared to perfection and the staff is always ready to serve with a smile.

I cannot speak highly enough of Maureen, the assistant manager of Kalahari Arms Hotel. When myself and my family had a car accident and were in need of a safe and comfortable night in Ghanzi, she was incredible!
Maureen was friendly and compassionate, ensuring that she met our every need. Her response was amazing and she swiftly made us feel welcome - going above and beyond to help us out.
Maureen is both professional and compassionate and her big heart and pro-active support made a massive difference to us that night.
THANK YOU - for everything. The Hotel is a beautiful welcome oasis. Our teenage boys enjoyed the fantastic breakfast served there! We hope to visit again one day.

The staff were friendly and professional. We had a situation where there was a shortage of water in the rooms, and it was explained to us that due to construction activities they have been experiencing this. they managed to help us get hot water for bathing. they attended to our request well in time.
