Made a last minute booking for Capelands as the place we usually stay was full. We normally stay a lot closer to town so not stayed in Somerset west before. We loved it ! We would definitely visit Capelands again. The service was excellent, the breakfast the nicest most relaxing I've experienced on my many travels. The restaurant was superb and the wine divine. What lovely safe environment to spend a week as we did. The family were so very welcoming, a real close nit team that run/work there who couldn't do enough to help you. It was lovely to explore new restaurants in an area we were not familiar with.
Spa was excellent too. Sam's massages are a must during your stay.

Excellent food, nice, clean and cozy living, friendly atmosphere of stuff and owners, willing to make the stay of their guests more pleasant. In Restaurant choice of wines competing with the best restaurants in Paris and food is even better :) Wonderful views over the bay and the surrounding vineyards .. what to add .. a unique place to stay. We see again Capellands ...

Stayed for 3 daus. Average accomodation offered. Room was stuffy, small and was tired. Coffee and tea sachets werent replenished. Good meal but expensive compared to other restaurants. Rustic location, secure.

Great location. Disappointed in poorly maintained rooms and poor fit and finish overall. No mosquito nets, no mechanism to exclude insects, ants invade bathroom and kitchen....Kitchen very poorly equipped. Clearly the owners have no expectation that the guests may want to cater for themselves. Views stunning, restaurant and wines are nice, but seriously over-priced. They aspire to be top class but fall short...

Maybe it is because we came at an unfortunate moment but we definetely didn't enjoy our stay. There was one lady who had to do everything from opening the gate to cleaning and she seemed very stressed. The accomodation was oke but not for that price. The food we got was very tasty but if you compare it too other things , it was too expensive. The breakfast was ok, but also too expensive. Sad because the views were stunning...

We enjoyed our stay at capelands, especially the good breakfast and perfect dinners. Johan prepared the best dinners for us every night while our son was sleeping. Nothing was to much and the breakfast and dinner are the best during our trip now. Johan could tell us everything about the meat and wines it was perfect. The room was clean not too big but fine and the area is so peacefull.

After a long day's travel we arrived at Capelands to be welcomed by the owners with a glass of their own White wine and a stunning seat to watch the sunset over Cape Town. 'The Cottage' was a lovely two bed roomed accommodation, set in landscaped gardens with a distinct 'Italian' theme merged with Africa a reflection of the owners heritage and her talent as an artist.
Despite the restaurant being closed as it was off season, the Chef rustled us up a truly wonderful pasta dinner at no notice at all! Once again washed down with home produced wine and accompanied by their own Olives, bliss!
I loved this place and only wished that we had been able to stay a few days longer in order to have enjoyed the onsite spa and some more of the fantastic wine!
