My husband and I stayed here for three nights and had an excellent safari experience.
The riverside suites are beautifully designed and tastefully furnished. The ranger and tracker were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The staff and management made us very welcome and the quality of service was very high.

We took our family to Amakhosi for a long weekend recently and had a wonderful, memorable stay. We were celebrating our son's 40th birthday, and the staff pulled out all the stops! Sonja organised an upgrade to a honeymoon suite, and Lloyd arranged a superb cake for him. All the staff were excellent, the service was personal, friendly and efficient, and the attention to detail was exceptional. Our rooms were beautiful, with lovely views of the river, and all the meals were absolutely delicious. Lloyd made us feel totally at home and comfortable, and our entire stay was filled with treats and surprises. Our game drives with Kevin and Mandla were exciting and informative, and we had some great game viewing and excellent birding. We spent some spare time at the beautiful spa, and the ladies made it very special for us....a real treat! All in all we had a fantastic stay, and we will definitely be back for another Amakhosi experience.....we loved it!

From the moment you arrive you are made to feel very welcome.
The whole lodge is beautiful, it has just been refurbished so looks really tip top! Our room was stunning, very spacious seperate sitting room, huge bathroom seperate wet room with shower, all tastefully and comfortably furnished . Every little detail is thought off, tea and coffee making facilities with a jar of home baked cookies, fresh fruit, magazines and bathroom candles. each room has a huge deck overlooking the river, a lovely place to relax between game drives.

We had Nick as our Ranger for the game drives and as well as being really knowledgable he was great fun and beat our boys at chess at least once a day, a really charming gentlemen . our tracker was also brilliant. The game drives were all superb, we were so close to so many animals including 3 male lions who were just beautiful, they even sharpened their claws on a tree 2 metres away from us. I loved the elephants best, we were lucky enough to seem them several times, they walked all around us on their way to the river and the matriach stood and sniffed us with her trunk from only a few feet away as a way of making sure we ment no harm to all the young babies. the babies were adorable, all together in a little group.
i loved all the animals, zebra, giraffe even all the antelopes were so pretty. We were lucky enough to see a cheetah being released into the reserve to hopefully breed with a female.

The food at the lodge is also superb, my husbands only complaint was it was all so good he was putting on weight! the staff are also all great, very friendly and great fun, the girls sung and performed a traditional zulu song one evening it was great fun,all the guests loved it! We all really loved Mandy who hand reared the resident wart hogs who are so funny.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Amakoshi to anybody, I wish i was still there in fact

Thank you one and all for making our holiday

My friend and I had booked two days/nights at Amakhosi, and within 10 minutes of arriving, we immediately booked a third. This was my first safari experience, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but everything about our stay was perfect. The staff was wonderful, the suites and main lodge were luxurious without being pretentious, and the food was amazing. When I told them in advance that I was a pescetarian, but would eat a vegetarian meal if fish wasn't available, I was secretly expecting a cheese sandwich or pasta at every meal, but I was very pleasantly surprised to have a delicious seafood dinner made especially for me each night. The game drives with Kevin and Mandla were always an adventure, and Kevin was great about answering the 500 questions we bombarded him with each trip. I have a "no repeat" rule when it comes to international travel, but might make an exception and return to Amakhosi.

What a great review, THANK you, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and also great to hear that we managed to provide meals suitable to your dietary requirements. Lauren our Chef, is a genius, even with the challenge of being in the bush and not always being able to get a variety of food for clients with dietary requirements, she manages to produce amazing food! Thank you for also submitting the "yoga Ellie" photograph that has entertained many of us. Kevin did tell us it was a first for both him and Mandla to see this type of very unusual behaviour. We look forward to your next visit.

Best feature: Game drives with Jacques and King. Only lodge we had been to which provides 2 rangers on a vehicle. Amazing scenery !!
Food was good, room nice and clean!
Don’t leave anything sweet open in room so bush babies will stay away!
Spa area amazing!
