The Tirthan Valley is still a relatively undiscovered part of Himachal and we always try to visit for a few days from our house in Manali. This time we chose to stay at Go Fishing Cottages on the recommendation of a friend. The booking process was seamless and the kids were excited to go after reading all the positive reviews!
The homestay/bed & breakfast was easy to find on google maps. One thing that struck us as soon as we walked in was the intricate detail behind every part of design – from the cute signs to a recycled bottles in creative methods. We were shown to our room immediately (although it was well before check-in time). The host then pointed us to the stream adjoining the property and the kids were soon jumping into the freezing water!
Meals are ala carte – we chose to eat at an elevated part overlooking the main garden. Lots of options to choose from and well served. We finally made it up to the room – lots of plug points (even near the table overlooking the valley!) and great WIFI which is so important in this WFH age! We had two bedrooms in a 3 bedroom cottage – each room luxoriously laid out with multiple curios centered on the theme of recycling and fish. The electric blanket worked well as did the hot water in the showers!
The property only has seven rooms and is well spread out. Uppi the host is very involved and seems to always looking after a new project or talking to his guests. We had a couple of beers in the evening over a bonfire and it was fascinating to hear his perspective.
One of those places where we would have spent more than one night but we left for a quick hike on Jalore Pass. Not before breakfast of sumptuous pancakes and paranthas! The kids insisted on visiting the kitchen to understand how the pancakes were so tasty - crisp on the outside and soft inside!
thank you and we will be back!!
Host of Gone fishing cottages Dimple and Uppi were great, fantastic, awesome. Their personal touch for food is mind blowing. Fun place. Must visit. They provide good information for tourist. Feel as if you are at home and very personal touch. Staff is very cooperative and too good. Rooms are pretty good, basic. Don't go by room. Service and host are just awesome.
Yes, a place where each moment has been nothing but pure happiness. The perfect location of this place with a stream gushing just outside your room, the beautiful fleet of peacocks in the evenings, the delectable 'homely' meals and the unique decor of the rooms - this place is noting short of absolute bliss!
To add to our unique experience the super warm hosts, Dimple & Uppi, ensured that we have a fabulous time - be it arranging for the cuisines we like or the bonfires nights or suggesting the most amazing around to visit or simply having endless chats together - they made our stay incredible!
A huge shout out to the awesome staff for spot on service and super well maintained rooms with all the possible amenities!
A must, must, must visit - super highly recommended!
Can't wait for my next visit there!
This was my second holiday at Gone Fishing Cottages & like the last time, by far the most warm and comfortable stay I've had anywhere.
Gone Fishing Cottages is perfect for introverts and extroverts, for hikers and loungers, for the quaint and quirky, for people who love to party and for people who love corners for some quiet time.
The hosts are absolutely amazing, and the biggest plus is that this place is dog friendly! Staff on point - so warm and courteous. Cottages are very well equipped - with gysers, electric blanket warmers (for those real icy cold nights), microwaves, kettles, crockery, cutlery, Dish TVs, books, room supplies, fans (for the weird ones), bonfire evenings & food to die for!!!
Each cottage has its own vibe to it. My favourite - the rose cottage! You also have access to a lovely stream right across the property - perfect to dip your feet, on a sunny afternoon (with the poison of your choice - big plus) and beautiful calming sounds by night.
Big recommend to all the travelers out there - a must must visit!
Our first trip since Covid Hit and I was very paranoid to venture out but since I had heard about GFC from Dimple who owns the place with her Partner I was always curious.
My Husband and I took the plunge and took off to this unknown heaven and the minute we got there something set in ....You need to be there to experience it.
We were welcomed with open gates to park right inside. The dogs welcomed us like they were our own.The fresh crisp air with the river gushing to say hello and the giagantic mountain peaks with open arms.
The fish is fresh with Trout farms dotted in the valley.
Each corner of this place is handcrafted and everything has been thought of. With dining areas ranging from a warm restaurant to the outdoor breakfast area lit up so cozily if you want to sit outside by the bonfire.
We had fresh flowers in every room and luxury bath essentials something the hosts handcraft themselves and I have been sourcing it for years.
You will need heating in winters as it gets very chilly at night so carry a little blower or something for when you step out of the shower.
They will make you things off the menu and take care of your every need.
We had an amazing stay and will go back for sure as we also missed spending any time and being educated by the hosts who were away at the time of our visit but we still got looked after like family.
