We rented the newly completed three bedroom, two bathroom property in August. It was such a lovely stay and superb with the pool to cool off. They have four properties all with your own private space and outside dinning options with plenty of seating and tables and then you share a large garden and pool.
Chris is very friendly and helpful, the property has everything you need and has such beautiful views. It was very hot for our first few days and although no air-conditioning they provide plenty of blinds to keep the heat out and fans to circulate the air and it was fine.
We found some lovely local restaurants and Sarlat has lots of choice. It is a drive out to anything but this gives you views and relaxation! We used the campsite in the morning for bread as we sound is was fresher and friendlier than the hotel! The campsite also has a great shop and you can buy single portions which is helpful towards the end of your stay. They also provide salads to go with the BBQ.
Thank you Chris, we will return!
We stayed a week and as soon as we arrived we were met by stunning views and a huge amount of land around property. Typically French farm house and very well done by Chris and Kate. Chris came to see us and made sure we were satisfied with our gite. He spent time chatting with us and making recommendations especially the walking which there are several taking you along some spectacular scenery. Well equipped inside and good cooking facilities and you will want to stay put after swimming in the pool and taking in the view after a glass of wine. There were fans which Chris advised to keep on all night as it was very hot. I picked blackberries for breakfast with the sound of the tractor in the distance. You are very close to Sarlat and lots of major attractions and some beautiful small villages near by. If you want a real French gite experience and views to match we recommend here and especially the new additional gite with three bedrooms which I had a look around and it is very nice.
We stayed for 3 nights in this gite. Booked on a different booking site. The gite is in a great location, quiet and beautiful. It is obvious that this whole set up is a labour of love for the owner. He has done everything and is proud of that and defensive at the same time. He lives on site and the 30 page manual includes all instructions and numerous rules including not to open windows overlooking his courtyard. Tricky, when that is the main cross current for cool air. There is another rule that says no noise after 10pm, apparently, last night that didn't apply to his quarters. Nothing was quite as one would expect, the stairs to the bedrooms were unusually steep and there was a cheeky additional step at the bottom. The pool, for which he had built his own solar heating ( and it was working well) has an surprisingly deep step into it. The over 60 Italian guest, went down on all fours to get into the pool - that was smart, I just overbalanced when my foot didn't hit bottom as expected. When we asked about what cleaning he required on check out we got chapter and verse about poo in the toilet and grease on the cooktop. Both of which were horrifying and unnecessary. Needless to say we didn't cook, or leave poo marks! We basically just slept there for 3 nights. Finally, unfortunately the idea of a skinny overused pillow just didn't cut it and maybe the request for more pillows was not taken well. I would recommend this location. Bring your own pillow and dive into the pool.
We have just returned from a weeks stay in The Cottage and both wish we were still there!
Ok so the weather was excellent:blue skies, sunshine 18-20 degrees.
The Cottage is excellent, there was just the two of us but it was more than large enough for four people. Our bedroom really was the "room with a view", it was super to lie in bed looking out down the garden and over the valley. At night, the big sky was full of so many stars - stunning. The bed was sooo comfy.
The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to cook a meal or just boil an egg. English TV was nice to have. The wifi worked fine both inside and outside the house.
Being on the corner, The Cottage had the most evening sun which was fab as we could sit outside right until the sun disappeared over the roof of the chateaux. The views from the terrace ... I could never get fed up of the views ... Wonderful.
The location was good, easy to find on arrival and in a good position for going either south or north. A new L'eclerc in Sarlat is also easy to drive to from La Tour - just follow the instructions Chris has put in the red folder. Chris and Kate greeted us on arrival, they are a lovely couple who have worked very hard to create a special place to stay.
I would love to return and recommend The Cottage to anyone who wants a lovely peaceful place to stay.
We had a wonderful week staying at le Fournil - a one bedroom gite at La Ferme De La Tour. The view from the terrace is stunning and the accommodation is very clean and well appointed with everything you need for your stay. Great pool which provided welcome relief during what was a week of high temperatures. The location is within an easy distance of Sarlat and other popular Dordogne spots. Walking in the area is great and thanks to Chris for his recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly be back.
