Due to my normal accommodation not being available, my Wife and I were offered Bella Vista No.2 during a recent 3 night stay.
Admittedly, the unit is advertised as strictly for two persons, but upon entry you can immediately see why!...The unit is absolutely minute. The "bedroom", "bathroom", so-called "lounge" and "kitchen" are all open plan and all visible to each other....the only closed space is a small separate toilet.
The raised oval bath with above bath shower head is very impractical and one cannot use the shower without spraying all the surrounding areas including the steps, basin and floor with water...it is actually quite hazardous...I slipped on the wet tiles and sprained my wrist.
The kitchen area is also hopelessly too small....although quite well equipped...no stove though and only a small bar fridge.
The lighting is inadequate in both the kitchen and bath areas....especially if you stand in front of the basin mirror or at the two plate hotplate.
The best feature in the unit was the built in fireplace...but then again not much was needed to heat up the tiny space.
Overall, unit No.2 did not live up to expectations, and neither did it represent value for money at R860 per couple per night.
We won't be back anytime soon.

I recently took my elderly mom to Clarens for a weekend and was really impressed with the quality and cleanliness of the self catering unit we had. There were two bedrooms one with a queen sized bed and a second with two single beds, very smartly decorated with a French country theme. We shared a full bathroom and we had a well kitted out kitchen with everything needed for self catering. The lounge was comfortable and had a wood burning stove for cold nights. The private verandah off our unit had a lovely garden view with a beautiful plein tree sheltering it, mountain views on one side. We were close enough to walk to the shops and restaurants, really had a relaxing getaway and can highly recommend this place

We recently stayed at Bella Vista (no 2) and found the accommodation to be of a good quality located in pretty surroundings. The bed was quite hard and there were no amenities except for soap, but we had quite a pleasant stay for the first two nights. However, upon our return from an outing on the second day of our stay we discovered that the unit, consisting of only one room, was in the process of being fumigated with naphthalene moth balls. These were placed under the bed, in the cupboards between our clothes, on kitchen shelves, behind the microwave, under the refrigerator, couches and chairs. The smell was overwhelmingly strong and the more we searched for moth balls, the more we discovered. We removed at least 14 moth balls that were visible on surfaces around the unit. After a while we decided to contact the cleaner who informed us that the owner asked her to place the moth balls in the unit. When I spoke to the owner she was not very helpful and claimed to be unfamiliar with moth balls. We had to check out early and leave as we could not stand the gas from the Naphthalene balls (Glad we did as I read up later that this is quite a toxic gas and carcinogenic too).

We stayed at Bella Vista Nr. 2 for a couple of days. My mouth dropped to the floor when I walked into the room. It is self-catering, but one of the nicestes places I have ever stayed, in all our travel and in Clarens. It is beautifully decorated, lot of attention to detail and very clean. It is located in the road just of the main road, easy access to all the places and within walking distance of all the amenities. It is very quiet, and we just loved being there. I would recommend it to anybody without hesitation.
