My girlfriend and me had a wonderful, relaxing time at Lou Moon. Matter of fact, we relaxed as soon as we entered the grounds and had seen the room, the restaurant and the beach. Swimming was great in the sheltered bay, although the water was not very clear it was nice to sorkel a bit too (saw a (dead) seaturtle , a parrotfish and much more smaller fish of differet species. Snorkelset was available to borrow and we got clean towels every day for the beach and another set for bathing. We enjoyed a wholesome massage.

Very friendly management and staff in general! Food and service were good although a few of the veggie dishes could have been a bit more well thought out (the spaghetthi mocking squash was great though!). They have a nice vegetable garden up the hill where the grow some of the vegetables and herbs used in the kitchen. Having a look there as well as walking further along the footpath towards the next village was very enjoyable and recommendable! The forest is pretty lush and there are little plots of cassava here and there. Some nice birdwatching can be done here and the views along the path and beach are pretty. We didn't reach the village at the end of the path.

Personally I feel the place could only appeal to me more by being somewhat more 'eco', e.g. promoting wildlife watching, doing social/environmental projects in the community, installing solar panels, biogas installation, etc. although they may have very good reasons for not doing so (or me not knowing about it). Also the electricity during dinner runs on a generator, to avoid powerdips. Understandable but not very 'green'. I dont know if there is a reasonable alternative.

Other than these small remarks I can only recommend the place as a very nice beach retreat to totally relax and indulge yourself. Best enjoyed at the end of your trip to Ghana I guess! :) Considering the food being included and the great service, its good value for money. To top it off the owner was nice enough to let drive with him to Accra. Merci beaucoup, au revoir!

Ok here goes, if you're heading to Lou Moon from Accra it'll probably take max 3hours to get there and the last 10-15kms is not the most pleasant. You quickly get over this though when you arrive at Lou Moon. By the way if you've not arranged transport from the airport please ask Lou Moon for an airport pickup (& drop off), much better value!

Its such a pleasant place to arrive in. No long drawn out check-in procedures et al, the refreshing sea breeze hitting you in the face. I arrived about 10am and check-in is 2pm but the staff got me settled quickly, infact I think I had brunch and a cocktail before getting to my room for a short snooze :) Thanks Isaac & co! Don't be fooled there's plenty to do, just ask and the staff will sort you out, can't imagine anyone resisting swimming all day.

If you intend to hang out at the bar/restaurant in the evenings be prepared for the strong evening breeze which can sometimes get quite cool. After all your swimming, sunbathing, kayaking, table tennis, volley ball etc I doubt there'll be any energy left to hang out for long. Of course some nights it can get quite still I imagine. One fascinating thing was the sound of the waves crashing to the shore. I tell you sometimes nature can be a nuisance unto itself. Some nights it sounded like you were sleeping behind the engines of a boeing 777 and I had to remind myself where I was. I had Island Exec bungalow so go the full blasts from the sea but would change for anything! Splash our on an Island Exec if you can, totally excellent view of the bay!

The meals are good! The chef Yvonnique and his junior Emmanuel can put a spin on any meal they're serving that day. There was always fresh seafood on the menu during my day. If you're lucky you'll be in time to see the fishermen drag the days catch outta the sea. The beach is small but so so clean, I even love the sand, its not the powdery stuff that gets everywhere lol.

The rooms are simple, elegant and relaxing; can't imagine you'll spend much time there most of mine was spent on the beach or dozing on my porch but its pleasant rooms to return to. There's no TV or internet in the rooms (not in the Island Exec anyway) but you won't miss it.

The water's great to swim in but you still get some 'debris' floating about, its great the hotel makes the effort to try clean it up early in the mornings.

If you want to get away from the world, enjoy some real 'me time' this is the place for you.
I was there about 10days ago; would I go back? Definitely!!!

My wife and I have stayed at Lou moon before but it's was the 1st time with our 10 month old baby. We had a good stay last time but spoilt by poor weather. Sadly only 5 hours sun in 3 days this time but it makes you appreciate what the hotel do and don't have for amenities.

We stayed at one of their new private villas on the island with a pool. Just beautiful. Up there with some of the best in the world I have stayed at. Really feels like Seychelles or Mauritius. The design, quality and layout is perfect but you have to have a very close eye on a toddler with straight drops down to the rocks. I am surprised this was not raised when we booked.

Sadly we were missing the standards on arrival. Bed was not made, linen was not at hand, soaps were missing things like bubble bath which you want because the bath is so awesome. The room had a kitchenette but not equipment, glasses, cutlery etc which seemed such a waste. It also made it very hard to manage the baby. We had to call every time for small things. These are small things but it's the detail that takes a good hotel to a great hotel and Lou Moon missed those details.

Anyway the place is beautiful and our staff were lovely. Very under trained for such a high end venue but they were always happy to help.

The food ranged from incredible to very poor. We left 2 meals but we're still charged but the rest we had were fantastic. If you don't like garlic don't come. It's in everything.

We drank plenty and prices are reasonable but 3 out of the 4 wines we tried were going off due to not being stored in a cool room. OK when it's house but when your paying $40 a bottle it should be good.

I can't recommend Lou Moon enough but if they could just get the details right it would be the best in Ghana.

We went to Lou Moon for a girls retreat. I didn't know what to expect. We drove the five hours from Accra and were more than a little concerned as we drove into the resort. (This is an easily correctable focus on welcoming a tired guest, an attractive entry, a cool drink, and visible signs to direct guests to the reception area.) The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were not happy with our first room (#7). It was clean and comfortable but lacked a comfortable place to sit and relax. Lou Moon honoured our request for a room change; at some additional cost, we were transferred to room 1.

I will go to Lou Moon again and again, but only if I can stay in Room 1. The resort has 4 rooms on 'the Island'. (Don't be fooled it is quite a trek from the resort proper.) Tastefully appointed, wonderful design innovations (remember to open the wooden curtains at dawn so you can wake up to the sun on the sea). The Verandah is made for lounging, soaking in the views, and long conversations over tasty meals, served by the smiling staff.

While we enjoyed our time on the beach (Emmanuel thank you for the coconuts), and the wonderful massage from Gloria, The morning swim in the private pool was the cherry on the cake.

Thank you all (Paul, Kojo, Tony, David, Peter, Matilda, Deborah and others) for a most enjoyable visit. We will be back.

This place was absolutely amazing. The views, rooms, food was better than I could have imagined. If you are looking for a relaxing way to spend a weekend away, spend the money and get an executive suite on the island, it is well worth every cent.
A couple small things I would upgrade: the outlets not what I have seen elsewhere in Ghana and so I wasn't prepared. But they do have converters if you need them. The games and swimming equipment could use with an upgrade as it is all very well used. The water is fantastic, but not quite as clean as I would have hoped for. Saying that, they did pick up garbage every day on the beach and in the water. Though I don't know that there is a place in Ghana you can go where this isn't an issues. The owner isn't exactly a pleasant person, but at least he is there in case you have any issues. The road in is very rough and washed out, bring a 4 wheel drive if you have one.
Even with these small issues- I would not hesitate to return!!
