This is the first time we have stayed in a caravan and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The caravan was clean and had the basics for a great holiday. The holiday park is located close to the beach and has lots of onsite facilities such as mini golf, a swimming pool and arcades. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. We used the caravan as a base to explore the local area including the Mumbles and Margam Park.
We came to Trecco Bay for 7 nights back in August. On arrival we had a small issue with our caravan which was resolved really quickly despite how busy the park was. This was then followed up by a visit from the House keeping manager who came by to check everything was OK.
The park was lovely and clean. There was a good selection of things to do along with a number of choices for food. We ate at Papa Johns, The Fish and Chippery, the park restaurant and Legends. All meals were delicious. We booked a swimming slot for 30 minutes which seemed to be enough time for the size of the pool. Our children enjoyed the arcades, outdoor splash pad, crazy golf and the bumper cars. Unfortunately the indoor play area wasn’t open but it did look good fun!
We were able to meet 2 characters in the clubhouse. The only downside was my husband and daughter went to play Bingo one evening and I had planned to meet them a short time after with our son but unfortunately the queue was an hour and a half wait to get in so I couldn’t join them.
We visited the beach and went to Porthcawl funfair afew minutes down the road. There were also a couple of large arcades which the kids loved, a market and the usual seaside shops.
We had a lovely stay at Trecco bay and would definitely return in the future.
We have just got back from our stay at Trecco Bay. We booked through Hoseasons, went well until I tried to contact the site prior to enquire about various things, I attempted to call numerous times and never got through which was very frustrating. I’m addition, if you booked direct with Park Dean, you could access pool booking online etc, but as we didn’t we couldn’t (would of been nice to know this).
On arrival our caravan wasn’t ready, but no mither, this was soon rectified. Caravan was modern, clean (enough) had its typical quirks, Shower ran hot & cold, 1 bathroom light didn’t work etc but again, if you’ve done caravans before these are some things you expect..!
Local beaches are nice but the few cafes etc (Sandy Beach) are run down. A good hour walk to Rest Bay has lovely views and is a good walk, especially with dogs. Certainly recommended Harbour Bar & Grill for lunch or tea, but more upmarket, we stood out as we’d just come off a very windy beach!!
Pool on-site is good, at present can only book in 30min intervals which I thought was a bit short (if you’ve booked via Hoseasons, you have to go to the bike hire shop to book, plenty of availability). Has a slide and is good for young children, as well as the splash pad area. Great amusements and they are making the most of what they can with regards to evening entertainment with the current guidelines in place.
As a young (ish) couple with no children, and as the weather was not fantastic we got a bit bored. The site it totally set up for families with small children. Although I would still say it was good value for money although I’m not sure we will head back in a rush.
We travelled as a family for 1 week - 4 adults and 1 baby (18 months old) in 2 x Colwyn Caravans (one in Ceaders and one in Firs). We had a fantastic break away.
The caravan was lovely - as described on the website - it was definitely worth paying the extra to upgrade. The caravan was well equipped with hairdryer, iron, ironing board, hoover and drying rack, plenty of plates, glasses and kitchen utensils. As a previous poster has mentioned I don’t think the caravan had a ‘deep’ clean prior to arrival as we did find parts of a plastic toy under the sofa and a pair of socks BUT we were happy on the whole.
The swimming pool, park, mini golf, splash zone, arcades and bowling were open! Swimming you had to pre book your 30 minute slot and arrive ‘beach ready’ after your slot you wrap yourself in your towel and shower back at your caravan! Swimming was a pleasant experience! Never crowded!
Maybe have some background music with the bowling lanes as there was no atmosphere what so ever.
Mini golf was a great course!
Lots of one way systems, hand sanitiser in place.
We ate at the chippy and the pizza place and my daughter had a children’s meal at the on site restaurant. All pleasant enough.
Shame that there was no live entertainment but we knew this was the case prior to arrival due to covid 19.
Situated on a lovely beach, nice walk to the centre and additional amusements and fun fair (open on the weekend).
The on-site shop is expensive and there is the smallest shelf with barley any fruit or veg, however there is a Co-op close to the park entrance.
Overall a great trip!
Well, what can I say.. We have returned from a fantastic 4 night break with our 4 children, 2 teens and 2 toddlers!!
As someone who is known as a serial complainer amongst my friends and family I literally have nothing to complain about!!
Our Pembroke Caravan was beautiful and in the Chestnut area. We arrived slightly earlier but we were well aware our caravan would not be ready untill 16:00, however we were greeted by a lovely lady who told us it was nearly ready at 15:30. Much preferred the contactless check in!!
Yes, you have to pre book for swimming, i did this the week before online and had no problem booking us a slot everyday. Again, you do only get half an hour but compared to other parks who arent opening their pools we were grateful and so were the children. It clearly states there are no changing facilities and nobody is forcing anybody to use the pool so it is your choice as a family if you choose to do that. Our children found it exciting and quite funny.
The park is beautiful and the beaches are amazing, we couldn't ask for a better location.
The local funfair is great for the kids (Coney Beach)
There is a Greggs and a CoOp near the entrance to the park also.
Overall in these uncertain times I think it is your choice whether you go anywhere as a family and you have to expect that no holiday will be the same as previous ones with the current situation. After months of lockdown we were grateful to be away and making memories and would like to thank you to Parkdean for an excellent stay!!
