Decent hotel room, nice breakfast, wonderful view from the restaurant.
The only thing that was embarracing was that the balcony wasn't clean for some time.
The atmosphere reminds me of Hercule Poirot movie...
Having stayed a few years ago at Margarona during summer, i was really glad that i visited the hotel also during winter. It remains a great value-for-money hotel just 5' by car outside Preveza.
Spacious, clean rooms. Comfy beds and good heating. The room furniture maybe a little bit worn but it's no bid deal. The bathroom is big and clean minus the basket that needs to be replaced!
Breakfast is plenty and satisfying. Dinner (we tried once) wasn't that great though.
Last but not least, the hotel staff is always helpful and smiling!
P.S. Hopefully the next time, the corridors' carpet will be gone...
We stayed here as part of a tour group. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were up to date and quite functional. The staff in the dining room was wonderful. The food was good also, especially the dinner they served. The room was just a tad on the small side but was fine for a brief side. I’d stay here again if in the area.
Me and my missus decided to tie the knot in August and after a long search of venues around Preveza, Parga and Lefkada we chose MRH due to the location, excellent management and staff service, cleanliness, food and hotel amenities for our event as well as reasonable pricing. This was a huge moment of our lives so we wanted everything to be perfect (or as close to perfect as it can be)! This was also a bit of a challenge for us as we wanted to break away from the Greek traditionalisms of having a wedding at a church or at the town hall and instead perform the wedding ceremony by the hotel pool overlooking the water and the sunset and thus opting for a more relaxed, modernised and open atmosphere for us and our guests. The location of the hotel is fantastic, overlooking the water and only just a couple of minutes by car to Preveza. Local beaches are also a 10-15 minute drive. The hotel has been around for decades and is a real part of the history of Preveza but has been maintained and up-kept to a very high standard. Overall, the hotel manager Mr Panagiotis Gkiosas was extremely helpful and accommodating by helping us plan a wedding with 200 guests and rooms for all of our guests visiting from abroad. This isn’t easy with dates (and people’s minds) constantly changing but Mr Gkiosas took care of everything. We met the chef and the food was fantastic with a great variety on the buffet as well as quality. We had absolutely no complaints about the food from our guests as they all thought it was nicely cooked, presented and tasty! The rooms (around 15 of them for our foreign guests) were all clean and in excellent condition and the staff really did a great effort to maintain the cleanliness standard as well as the room service with Christos from the pool bar taking care of all of our guests drink and food orders during the wedding day preparations. Our wedding suite was an enormous corner penthouse room with ample space as well as elegant decoration. Despite an unforeseen spell of rain which drenched all the chairs and tables we had set out at the veranda for the wedding reception (I was so stressed at that point!), the hotel brought out replacement ones and set them up in no time (thank you Mr Vaios!). Pleased to say the event went smoothly with all of our guests and ourselves having a fantastic time, dancing their hearts out at a party that ended at 7am with a dip in the pool! Margarona Royal Hotel really made us feel at ease with its flexibility towards wedding day plan and food menu set up, table & seat planning (with a large interior reception hall as a back up), venue decorations and audio entertainment (we opted for a DJ but a band can also be accommodated). We will definitely visit again and we definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to stay there during their holiday or even plan a wedding event or a business event!
Thank you Mr Panagiotis, for taking great care of us and our guests and for helping us making our special day a truly memorable one!
First the positive points regarding this hotel, welcoming friendly staff , amazing views , comfy pillows and beds . We had a room which although furniture was a little worn ,the air on was great and had brand new clean carpets. We arrived to find complementary fruit , wine and water from management as there had been a mix up by our travel agents ,( not the hotels fault ) and it was a way to make up for mix up.
The breakfast is good for a three star establishment and is served facing the pool and lake which is a lovely sight in the morning.Pool was clean .
It is a short taxi ride into town and taxis were regular and each journey was 5 euros . The drivers were all very polite and helpfull when asked for recommendations and information.
Now the negative points, the WiFi could be better , the cleaners were not very thorough especially in the bathroom , the hotel needs a refurbishmentin in some areas it looks neglected . Public area windows ,balustrades need a good clean .The bar area and public room overlooking pool is very hot with inadequate ac and the sofas are very old ,this makes it uninviting .
There are no pavements along road leading out of hotel, if you decide to walk anywhere , which is a shame as it is a lovely area to explore. The coffee was awful and if you asked for any other coffee there is a charge .
I hope now that the Amalia group has taken over hotel , that the next time we visit the faults will be rectified , the place has a lot of potential . Preveza is a great place to take a holiday it left a great impression on us and I’m sure we will visit again.
