My room was small and dark; the bedside lamps did not work; my room was not cleaned every day; there was very little water pressure; the water for the shower never did get hot; breakfast was sparse.

I've stayed in nicer hotels in Piura and at a lower rate.

The staff was very nice and helpful. The room did have air conditioning.

We booked two rooms the facility seems quite nice. The top-floor patio is gorgeous.

The rooms were simple but nice. The bathrooms are small.

Our major complaint was that for two mornings in a row, we had no running water to shave or shower. I don't understand how the government lets them stay open. The first day, they suggested we use another hotel room to shower. The second day, the hotel was full and I had no option to shower.

Very frustrating. The hotel manager said something broke which is why there was no water. However, a friend of ours that works nearby says this hotel has a history of not having water.

I stayed at Mango Verde in July 2012 and have no complaints... The top-floor patio is gorgeous, very romantic. I'd even say it was one of the most romantic places in all of Piura. I had a room on the second floor. It didn't come with a mini fridge but they offered to bring one up for me which was pretty nice (there is a large supermarket about a block away and a kitchen for hotel guests on the second floor). The hotel is very clean, the staff are very professional and accommodating. Two of them spoke English very well which came in handy as this was my first time in Peru or any Spanish country. The manager was especially helpful with getting me settled in Piura (helped me to get a cell phone registered, told me where to find Western Union, souvenirs, etc etc). The shower had hot/warm water which is not common in most Peruvian hotels I discovered later. Don't be alarmed that you have to turn on electricity on a switch right beside the shower, this is pretty standard in hotels/hostels, I found that out later too. I wish I had better photos than the one here (it is of my room). The security in the hotel is pretty good - you have to buzz to be let in the building and there is a person behind the desk 24-7. The hotel is not in the town center, but it is a short taxi ride away, I believe it was 5 sols, which is about $2 USD. It is, however, close to many restaurants and a few bars, banks, pharmacies, and there is an internet cafe about 2 blocks away (I think it's on Calle G, residential street hidden, not on the main road) and also the hotel has wi-fi, although no internet computers. I would definitely recommend staying here if you don't know your way around Piura and/or this is your first visit to Peru. The hotel's website has great photos and info as well, that's how I found it.
