My wife and I and another couple visited the beautiful island of Barbados mid November 2015. I have been to Barbados a half a dozen times now so knew the area that I wanted to be close to for this trip. We stayed at the Sapphire Beach Condominiums in St. Lawrence Gap. I found this 2 bedroom condo on the VRBO.com website and it looked perfect for us. All of our pre trip organizing was with Katherine who was very professional, courteous and extremely sweet. She answered all of our questions and also arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the airport (David) upon our arrival and deliver us to the condo. The charge was $20 US and is maybe a 20 minute ride. Katherine met us at the condo and gave us a tour and made sure that everything was in order. She also gave us suggestions on where to go what to see and choice restaurants in the area. We also met Greg the next day and he is in charge of making sure that everything is in working order. They are both extremely nice people and were very very helpful so thank you to you both.
The condo itself had 2 bedrooms and was on the ground floor. Both rooms had king sized beds which were very comfy and lots of walk in cupboard space for clothing and storage. Each room has it's own bathroom. This is a 2 storey condo with one bedroom downstairs with sliding doors opening into the pool area. The upstairs has the other bedroom as well as a very well appointed kitchen, a living room area and sliding doors out to the balcony which overlooks the pool area. There is a large screen TV in the living area but you do not get many stations. When we watched TV it was mostly CNN but honestly when you are in Barbados you do not watch much TV anyway.
The beach is right there across from the pool area and although it is quite small, maybe 1/2 mile in length, it is beautiful! Fluffy white sand leading into the water and a smooth sandy bottom. You can walk out about 100 yards before the water is over your head and if you are lucky some days you will get waves big enough for boogie boarding or body surfing.
The Sapphire also has a small gym if you are so inclined. I did not use it but my 3 fellow travelers did and said that it was just fine. All of the people that work at this resort were friendly and courteous and wanted to make sure that you enjoyed your time in Barbados.
I have been around to most of the islands in the Caribbean. Barbados is by far my favorite. The Bajan's are lovely and caring people, the weather is perfect, the ocean is warm and blue, the food, especially the fresh fish is fantastic and not once ever did I feel unsafe even when I met the local drug dealer on the first day!! If you have not been to Barbados do yourself a favour and get there soon. I would also highly recommend that you check out the Sapphire condos and if you do please say hi to Katherine and Greg for me.
