The location was wonderful.
the lodge the lounge and rooms were very good the pool area needed a good clean.
Where it fell down was the quality and quantity of the food in relation to the price charged.
The lack of courtesy and attention by mamanagement in the evenings to their guests was not acceptable compared to other locations we stayed during our vacation.
We stayed here for 2 nights . The lodge is beautiful in a wonderful setting and the tour of the battlefields was excellent . Sadly this is all let down by the worst quality food we have had in S.A. As well as been badly prepared they used the cheapest ingredients . Which for what we paid was a real let down . Pool area also needs some attention loose boards on decking etc.
But the really worst part was the attitude of the manager Shane. There was another couple and ourselves staying . There was confusion over a bill for wine with an extra bottle being charged for which we didn’t have . When the receptionist tried to discuss it with him . He very rudely said if it’s the waitresses mistake she can pay for it . We were all very upset with the way he spoke to and treated his staff. Because of this and the problems with the food we would not recommend this to lodge to anyone .
Just spent 3 days at this lovely oasis overlooking the battlefield. Set high above, it affords wonderful views & we were very impressed with the hotel & the rooms with private balcony were delightful.
Shane, Ros & all their staff looked after us so well & nothing was too much trouble. The lodge is spotlessly clean & superb views from everywhere in the hotel on on the wraparound terrace.
We were a little disappointed with the food as felt that there was very limited choices at dinner & poor selection of fruit at breakfast. The packed lunch they supplied was excellent.
To swimming pool was not as clean as I would have liked & it did deter me from going for a swim as it was cloudy & murky. Shane assured me it was fine which I am sure it was just not at all inviting which is a shame.
Thank you for an overall enjoyable stay.
Superb. There is no way to convey just how fantastic this lodge is. As you rattle up and down the approach roads you have no idea that such stylish luxury and such a warm welcome awaits you. Ros and Shane are great hosts that have a passion and enthusiasm that's a rare find. The interior design is just stunning and the location fantastic - a real 'pinch-me' experience to stay here - super.
Lovely pool area (weather was not conducive to a swim whilst we were there but it's in a great setting)
Dalton the local Zulu battlefields guide is a gem and he's so keen to share his considerable knowledge.
Can't fault it and was a highlight for me during our recent travels in S Africa.
Beautifully sited and appointed lodge clinging to the rock face overlooking the Isandlwana battlefield in the heart of Zululand. Great hosts Roz and Shane with excellent cuisine and even better bar! Service overall splendid while battlefield visits with Dalton truly interesting and informative. Only downside is variable Wi-fi while swimming pool requires some T L C. Wish we’d stayed 3 as opposed to 2 nights.
