We enjoyed staying at Stella Maris Sol Apartments with 3 kids.
At arrival we received a apartment where people before were obviously smoking. Very quickly the receptionist helped us to change the apartment. (Great flexibility)
The whole Ressort offers a lot of opportunities. Next to water sports also certain activity classes for kids and adults (Pilates and Joga). Kids disco and evening entertainment is organized.
We enjoyed the stay.
Water at the sea and the pools is very clean and also individual snorkeling makes fun.
One point to note: while cleaning staff is active and supportive the overall conditions of the 2 apartments we have seen were already showing signs of aging. As we spent our days outside, we did not see a major issue in that.
We had seen the photos and videos from this place and were expecting a sports resort and appartments with room for 4 people.
The photos we had seen were different from the flat we were in now!
The girls in the reception were not of great help - we had problems also with insects but only on the 4th or 5th time were we insisted (they told us to go to another residence to find something else) they changed our flat in the night time.
GOOD THINGS
Flat is very sound proof - If you close the window (you have aircondition) you do not hear the music) Aircon works fine. You can change towels every day (no cleaning). Wifi is working great too (free)
SPORTS. We thought there would be a gym to use but itis only for classes.
Unfortunately not very hygenic (even the instructor told us that the floor is not clean, the mats were not clean and the bikes have not been cleaned or looked after since they were bought 6 years ago!! it was one of the first things she told us)
So for the quality ... I wanted to do indoor cycling and i did HIIT as well - HIIT was ok. She told us she is not an indoor cycling instructort?? people were not properly on their bikes and the lesson was improvised not studied at all - on a fitness level for the participants who were there, they could risk injuries. It was obvious she did not know what she was doing.
Sunbeds are for RENT 20 kune a day - not even a week package for a family. so you if you want one - you pay everyday! You need to pay for the indoor pool.
Accomodation is not the best I have stayed in especially for the cost. It is really dated and the kitchen seemed dirty.
Tv is limited to CNN or BBC Worldwide.
AC is really good.
Smallest balcony ever.
Loved the forest where the apartments are and looking out onto the sea.
Facilities good, supermarket, bakery, restaurants,
Beach was not amazing - water was quite dirty and the steps into the sea were dangerous, with lots of people slipping.
Went to swimming pool once - very over crowded. Luckily there are lots of other places to go. Umbrellas and chairs have to be paid for.
Was quite a distance to umag - 20 mins on land train.
Went to Luna restaurant 10 mins walk which was brilliant.
Quite noisy at night time due to live music and beach cleaning was noisy first thing.
WIFI free and good.
Lots of people bring their dogs, luckily I like them and loved seeing them in the water. Never saw any dog mess.
My husband & I stayed in one of the apartments for 2 weeks, arriving on 15th Sept, on arrival more than half of the amenities they advertise had already closed! By the time we left, on this large complex, there was just 1 expensive "restaurant" to eat in which was only open for breakfast & dinner, 7am - 10am & 6pm - 9pm. Even so we were told by the waiter one evening when we arrived at 8.20pm that the kitchen closed at 9pm & the chef went home, as we were made to feel so uncomfortable we left without eating! They shut places without giving any notification & 3 days before we left they closed the on site supermarket, if you hadn't stocked up you either went without or paid the equivalent of £2 per person each way to go into Umag, the nearest "town," on their trolley train, to get something to eat or drink. Every day during our stay they shut or took away equipment until the day before we left we were sitting by the pool on the only 2 sun-loungers on the complex, watching other loungers being dragged along to be washed in front of us. Other people were having to sit on their towels on the beach as there was nothing else to sit on. The apartments are ok but as they are set in pine woods they are very dark, & the layout is strange having to walk from the bedroom, through the lounge & kitchen to get to the bathroom & toilet. Their idea of housekeeping is to give you copious amounts of clean towels, but not sweep or mop the floors & we were there 8 days before the bed linen was changed & forget the "maids" making your beds. I appreciate we went towards the end of their season, although there were many guests who were attending an international tennis tournament, but we didn't understand why they stayed open for holiday makers when it seemed they went out of their way to ensure you had anything but a good time. You could not go out to Umag for the evening as they altered the last trolley train from 10.15pm to 9.15pm, even so one night it left at 9pm meaning anyone who had missed it had to pay the minumum cab fare of £10 to get back. The meals on the complex are very overpriced & not all that good, a rump steak was £25.50, I could add a lot more negative observations about this place, but all I will say is if you like tennis, bike riding, are not bothered about eating nice food & like going to bed early this is the place for you. In high season I imagine it would be horrendous as they don't have enough amenities to cope, there are only 2 fairly small outside pools, 1 inside one you can use if you pay, not many eateries & the beaches are small so you would have to sit under the pine trees!
No transport to take your luggage to your unit. No safe in the room. Long walk from apartment to restaurant. No transport for luggage when you are leaving, you have to cart it to reception yourself. No detergent or dish cloths in units. Very very noisy with bus loads of people coming in and partying all night. No pool.
