We are out in Madison WI for a little mini getaway.
Upon check in we are assigned a room directly across from an exit door. Walking the hallways it reeks like pot. Everything is ok aside from that and we are enjoying our kid free time. At 3:55am we receive a loud knock waking us up from our sleep. The knock was a persistent one that my fiancé heard before I did . Thinking who in their right mind would be Knocking at this time unless it’s an absolute emergency we wake up and hear “front desk “. Trying to get in visitor friendly attire we slowly get dressed half awake only for the knocks right be more persistent. Maybe a fire ? Why on earth would the front desk would we get outdoor knocked on at this time . I’m 42 years old and never have I experienced this . As my partner opens the door I hear a stern voice “telling” her that he has been smelling the hallways and detected the smell of cigarettes from our room. First thing , I am 42 years old not a young man we respect and know hotel policies. Second , I travel for my career and can’t stand the smell.
As she attempted to communicate he had the wrong room he said “ mam denying or changing the subject won’t help you “.... excuse me young man ??,
at this very moment two young men came in from the exit door directly across from our room. You know the same exit door where people smoke . She echoes you have the wrong room and even helped this security guard put 2 and 2 together and he remained rude saying don’t let it happen again. Let what happen- he’s very fortunate I was using the restroom. I am very very familiar with choice hotels , Ihg, and Marriott. How dare you wake up guests at 4am with this nonsense from a dead sleep based on a smell . Funny when we opened the door you didn’t say anything about an odor and why cuz we don’t do that. On top of all this he then takes it a step further and then adds on to the conversation that he smells marijuana. Are you kidding me ? Let me give you some insight here I am 42 years old have a masters degree and this is not my first rodeo and unless you have concrete evidence you should never ever risk losing a repeat guest . I work for a fortune 50 not 500 yes 50 company and needless to say it is now my sole goal once Tuesday comes around to discuss and use my influence with the team that handles our lodging accommodations to ensure quality inn and choice hotels are only utilized as a very last option.
Ideally removing them all together would be preferred but at least I can ensure they are a very last option for the 15,000 plus people that this department schedules for .
Fortunately a former employee under me now works in and Oversees all scheduling . I am appalled by this overall experience to say the least .
The Conclusion :
Finally after the 2 young gentleman came in through the exit door next to our room Into the hallway walking past my partner and the guard the genius put 2 and 2 together and realized geez hmm exit door , smokers outside , walk past reeking of marijuana hmmmmm did the light bulb go off ? Maybe it wasn’t the couple who came to Madison for a little getaway that you woke out of a dead sleep at 4am but rather the two young men who came in from smoking ? Here is the part that upsets me the most .... He realized it was them after they walked past as he glared at them after the obvious odor and probably connecting the dots of their odor and exit door bring right by our room but rather than concluding the conversation as a professional and apologizing he I imagine puffed his chest as he talked down to my partner saying “don’t let it happen again .” He is very fortunate I was not involved but will be handling this accordingly on Tuesday as this has really screwed up our whole weekend and following day.
At this point he should of apologized and that would of at least left me with a neutral feeling towards your hotel brand. By the time they were done I was out of the bathroom only to return to my partner trembling. What would you do if you are a small female opening the door at 4am to a big man standing 6’2 or larger scolding you as your half awake ? That was the aftermath I had to deal with during the time we should of been sleeping . I’m proud of her and how she handled it but never ever will I or the company I work for utilize them after this . The very end of the conversation ended with her shutting the door as he booked it down towards the 2 young men.
YOU DO NOT KNOCK ON SOMEONES DOOR AT 4AM BASED ON A ODOR- common sense should of prevailed being by an exit door it’s a shame that common sense kicked in only AFTER approaching the wrong people as the 2 culprits walk right past you and the lightbulb 💡 goes off . You lost a good customer not just your particular owned building but the company you operate on behalf of worldwide .
Good riddens!

This hotel was easy-on and easy-off the freeway. The room itself had a table and 2 chairs. Beds were R E A L L Y comfortable and pillows were good. Hotel was quiet, with a cute lobby and good wifi. The bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke every time we walked in, and there was no make-up remover towelette. The fitness center was out of order - apparently from a flood, and smelled damp but I used it anyway. Front desk staff did not seem very knowledgeable about anything: the fitness center, the rewards program, etc.

Went for one night for a game at the University of Wisconsin. This place is pretty much below average. The room was ok. The air conditioning barely worked. it is old and in serious need of repair. The shower didn't drain, so we had to delay showers while the shower drained from the previous shower the person before. Took forever. The bed was comfortable and the people were very nice......it is just a below average place. The value wasn't even good as it was a little pricey on a football weekend. The area is a bit sketchy too.

I was going through my corporate website to book a hotel. Looking at the more cheaper ones and spot this one. They say they have pillow top bedding, only to soften the rock that you lay under anyhow. I was greeted by a person that didn’t have all his teeth. It disturbed me. He then proceeded to make it more awkward of asking me why I am here. Which it’s none of their business as to why...but politely said for business. He couldn’t stop talking to me and I just drove over 4.5 hours to get to this destination. In which I needed to use the restroom badly.

I got the king sized bed room. The pictures show how much space you have. Well that’s no true. You don’t get the extra chair, the desk is pushed to the corner and the room is stuffy. The suit case holder is so small that it doesn’t hold my suit case. The walls are paper thin. Can hear every little thing outside my bedroom. I have a lot of work to do for work while I’m here, and it’s hard when kids are around the room. Not the best quality like experience I was expecting.

Room keys were not working. We had to get several at different times just to get in the room. Previous guests personal property was left in the room. Different room then reserved and pay for. Manager refused to refund. Smoke alarm was tampered with. Room smelled of smoke.

Stay away from this hotel!!!
