The room that I reserved 3 weeks prior wasn't available (no reason given) so I took what was offered at a slightly lower price. Upon entering, the heat was turned on to 82 degrees--(it was a sunny hot June day). I immediately turned on the extremely noisy AC but found it wasn't cooling. After 2 visits from housekeeping and maintenance, I was told that it would be cool within the hour. After 6+ hours, it had only gone down 3 degrees. I turned the loud unit off and opened the small window that provided little air circulation. My roommate had no window in her space and demanded a fan that took 4 hours to locate. She laid with the fan 2 feet from her head and suffered a stiff neck the next morning. Neither of us could sleep. The front desk clerk Anna couldn't have been nicer but there was nothing else she could do. At the golf tournament the next morning, we were told that 2 others had no AC in their rooms and one woman was awakened 3 times by a TV that kept turning on. The hotel manager offered no refund or credit for our awful experience and still to this date, hasn't returned our phone calls. This hotel advertises many deals with the golf resort nearby, but we highly recommend you stay clear of this one and find lodging at a VRBO or the nearby French Country Inn.
Stayed 1/27-1/29 for Ice Castle event. Hotel has been updated with new lobby & restaurants. I found the room & it's furnishings outdated & worn. Bed ruffle had holes in it. Oddly in the middle of winter I was greeted by ants in the bathroom. I'm awaiting hotels response as I sprayed & cleaned the floor several times to get rid of them. Indoor pool & hot tub area is on first floor. Unfortunately 8+ people congregated in hot tub for over an hour. Due to covid I didn't feel comfortable sitting in hot tub. Main entrance & lobby are on 2nd floor. Ask for a north facing room. I was in 1230 faced the parking lot. Nice resort just stayed for Castle event. They did have a shuttle to it. Probably won't return. Staff was very nice.
Stayed at the hotel Friday to Sunday. Noticed the toilet was leaking from the bottom. Wall paper peeling from the wall and a hole in the wall in the bathroom. Also has large wet spots on the ceiling so something must be leaking from upstairs. Walls are paper thin, heard the guy nextdoor to us blasting his music from midnight until 2AM. Talked to the front desk, said they were sending maintenance to at least fix the leaking toilet. Nobody showed up. Their solution was to give me a $19.00 discount. On a room that cost me over $350.00 for 2 nights. Still waiting on a call from the manager. Doubt that will happen. That is why I am writing this rating.Pictures below.
Hotel was very clean. Extra COVID precautions taken. Staff was extremely kind and friendly. Room was clean but basic. Restaurants inside hotel were great. Overall a great place to stay. No complaints. Would definitely stay there again.
If you decide to splurge and get a "patio lakeview room," don't expect to actually see a lake... just be pointed in that general direction. The patio is something you share with every other room and is really just a strip of concrete. For $380+ a night, you can be on the first floor with a great view of ... the bar.
The room is dirty. It seems like it was just redone to try to at least make it look good for some photographs to lure unsuspecting tourists.
The lake? It's a long hike down a steep hill. The "Ridge Marina" is really just a shack that rents paddleboards and kayaks which if you go for a week long rental, you have to find a way to get back up to your room. I don't have a rack on my small SUV, so this was a problem. To get it up and down the hill nearly broke my back. I'm not sore from paddleboarding, I'm sore from lifting up and down the damn hill.
This place is unremarkable in every way. The food is subpar, the service... subpar. Do yourself a favor and find another place to say.
