Our room was clean and comfortable, nothing fancy. The bed was very comfy. The man working the front counter for check in and breakfast was not personable at all. Continental breakfast was the most basic I've seen.
Knowing we would have an event at The Gorge nearby, we booked 2 rooms A YEAR IN ADVANCE for Labor Day weekend. I called and confirmed 3 times within that year. Once we arrive they tell us they don't have enough rooms and blamed it on Booking.com. They said Booking.com overbooked them and they had nothing to do with it. They offered to pay for us for one of the rooms at a hotel up the road. We agreed to split up and do this. Then, they guy complains that it's going to cost SO much for him to do that and he's going to lose SO much money. So, we felt bad for the guy and instead, we all crammed into one room to save HIM money. Then, we find out the next morning that the people next door to us booked THAT DAY!! We asked several more guests and they ALL had booked WAY AFTER us!! Of course THEY had to pay holiday prices, while we had booked so far in advance that it was normal rates. NOW WE UNDERSTOOD WHAT THEY DID!! They told us it was Booking.com that made the error, when in fact, THEY gave OUR rooms to the guests that would pay more! Terrible business!! Dishonest!! Do NOT book a room here because it may not be there when you arrive!! LIARS!!!
his is an older property, which for Ephrata is not unexpected. Upon driving up it was like driving into an older Motel 6. No issues with that. The man who checked us in was rude, he waited until my partner left to get our truck pulled around to barade me that I had not called to 'check in late' it was 4pm and our paperwork said check in anytime after 2pm. I paid for the room and left to quickly get ready for an event. The shower was gross. The sink and toilet were clean but the shower tiles was growing black mold and the floor looked like it had barely been wiped. We were in rush took as fast shower to leave. We then realized in the am that the adjoining room doors were not locked and we could not lock them for privacy. There was someone next door to us as you would expect but they had full access to our room as we did to theirs. We put the fridge in front of the door and did not leave any valuables in the room. When we returned at 11pm we went to get into bed to realize it was HAIR all in it. Long black hair (I have shorter brown hair) it had stains that had not even been washed to try to get them put. They were still new. There was no one in the office so we took the top sheet to cover the nasty bottom sheet and slept a rough night with just the comforter over full clothes as it did not feel clean at all. Check out was easy and the man did not respond to the issues with a dirty bed.
My brother and I traveled to Ephrata for a fishing trip, so I was loooking for basic overnight accommodations, as we were leaving early in the morning. However, for the $146 base price I expected an average, clean room. After wrestling with the front door lock, we were surprised to find the room dark. there were just two table lamps; no ceiling lighting. We found plywood under the mattresses, and ants foraging in the bathroom near the sink. There was a large screen TV, however, I found the cable wasn't properly attached. After reattaching the cable we did get a signal, thankfully. The shower was grungy. The air conditioning unit did work, however, it was out of reach and so was controlled by an on/off switch. We were not able to adjust it unless we wanted to climb. Finally, the motel is near a train, which woke me up a few times. On the positive side, the staff greeted us with a smile and our reservation was on-file.
This motel is a bit seedy and way too expensive for the poor quality. I was with a club of eight others and they all found the place rather expensive, and their rooms outdated and not kept in good shape. I requested and was told pre-booking I could get a ground floor...didn't happen. I was told the room was $86 dollars...didn't happen. The toilet in my room would not flush and there was no counter to put things on. The towels were stained and worn, the room smelled like cigarettes although it was a non smoking room. Others in my group complained about the smelly pillows to the shabby looks of the walls to the shower taps not working. The thing was, they charged us $99 dollars American (we're Canadian) and that works out to about $130 Ca dollars!!!. For the quality of this place it was a rip off. We were at the Ramada the following night in Grand Forks, Canada $103 Ca dollars, beautifully clean and presented, all the amenities you could want. I will never go back to the Ephrata Inn and do not recommend this place to anyone at all. Stay away from it.
