Wanting a special getaway to celebrate our 25th anniversary and away from all the crowds, we learned of Orchard House B&B from another couple who had recently stayed there. Let us just say, you could not find a more perfect getaway retreat. We stayed 3 nights and wish it could have been for more.
The breakfasts’ are absolutely devine and creative. The property is quiet/peaceful. The rooms are comfy and cozy, as is the feel of Orchard House. Check out the grapevines, take a dip in the pool, sit by the outside fire pit, and swing by the gazebo that overlooks the pond/fountain, while enjoying all the wildlife. Mike & Deb are the perfect hosts and full of ideas for venturing out and about, as well as food and beverages. You can do as much or as little as you want. Orchard House B&B is perfect and perfectly created by Mike and Deb. We will definitely be back, just not soon enough, for adventures and enjoying their own Orchard House white wine.
We really enjoyed our 4 day stay at the Orchard House in Lovington, Va. The owners Mike and Deb were so friendly and hospitable. Every morning we enjoyed delicious breakfasts such as Eggs Benedict, Belgian Waffles, and Pumpkin French Toast. We decided after arriving to do the wine tour with Mike and 2 other couples. We went to 4 really nice wineries with beautiful views and some really good wines and had a nice lunch at the Blue Moon Brewery, We also purchased a bottle of Orchard House white wine. We ate at several local restaurants recommended by Mike and Deb which were good. Our room was cozy with plenty of room and a very comfortable king sized bed. We enjoyed sitting in front of the fire pit one evening. Our only regret is that is was a little too chilly to use the pool. We had a really relaxing stayand left the Orchard House refreshed and renewed.
The Orchard House is a spectacular property and unbelievable B&B located in the heart of Nelson County (VA) and the Blue Ridge Mountains. You are literally 30 minutes away from TONS of fun experiences. We bicycled, hiked, hit wineries, breweries and distilleries and ate at wonderful restaurants.
Mike and Deb are over the top gracious hosts who will bend backward with ensuring your stay is a Diamond experience. Everything from scratch made breakfasts to an inviting pool to soak in both the water and the sun to taking the time to make recommendations as to various activities and places to dine that we totally loved.
We stayed in the Northern Spy room and it was incredible with views of the sun peaking over the mountain ridge to the east. There is a large refrigerator in the second floor where you can place beverages/left overs and get ice during your stay. We loved the leisurely pace of how the days started with coffee and a wonderful breakfast.
The have a vineyard that has produced 2 GREAT varietals that you should enjoy while you visit. We bought extras of both to bring home.
The other TripAdvisor rankings and commentary is well deserved.
Our second stay at the Orchard House was during Covid-19 and we were hesitant to go anywhere after spending 4 months at home, but knew we needed to get away. The only place and people we trusted were Deb and Mike from The Orchard House and we couldn’t have been more happy with our choice to take a mid-week escape! We were so impressed with (and thankful for) how well local restaurants and wineries handled social distancing and how easy it was to do so at the B&B. Everyone wore their masks and remained distant. We were able to enjoy our breakfasts outside, go on an awesome, socially distant wine tour, swim in the pool to cool off, order take out to enjoy on the porch, and even make new friends! We can’t wait to return again and can’t say enough about how safe and relaxed we felt on our mini getaway during such a stressful time in the world. I would recommend the Orchard House to anyone looking for the same escape. Thanks again Deb and Mike, we’ll see you again soon!!

My husband and I came back home today after staying 3 nights here. I planned this stay as an anniversary gift for my husband. I booked a room in the farmhouse (red jewel on the 2nd floor)and we had the whole house to ourselves. This was the most relaxing vacation! The first morning we hiked the 3.7 mile trail At Fortunes Cove Nature Preserve. The rest of the time we spent at the Orchard House relaxing- lounging by the pool, Reading a book in the gazebo at night, sitting in the Adirondack chairs by the pond and sitting on the front porch of the farmhouse with a book. The breakfasts each morning are fanatastic! The property is gorgeous! Deb and Mike could not have been more welcoming and gracious hosts! We loved every conversation with them! We look forward to a return visit in the late fall when the weather is a bit cooler at night so we can also enjoy the fire pit.
