Checking in I was told there would be breakfast available. When I got to my room and went back down, it was closed. This hotel is in the middle of nowhere so walking to get food took a good 20 minutes.
Then, they were shooting some movie in the lobby. Although there was a quick note about filming taking place, when I got back to my room there were loud , repeated gunshots below. I had no idea if they were real or not and was panicked. It turns out that they were part of the movie but someone should have notified the guests.
The nightmare continued when i attempted to turn on the air conditioning because it was at least 80 degrees in my room. I tried to call down to the front desk but the phone didn't' connect to ANYONE! That's pretty dangerous as well. I was forced to sleep with the sliding door open which would have been good for the temperature but this hotel is located right on a highway and a train line so the noise was so loud I couldn't sleep. So choose...roast to death or be cool and wide awake. Not conducive to managing business meetings.
The final straw came when on my last night here, I just wanted some room service and a glass of wine. Neither the bar or restaurant opened until 8:00 pm. i understand this is pretty standard in Spain, although definitely not the case in Barcelona as I was just there a month ago.
So I waited until 8:00, got the room service menu and tried to dial to place an order. Once again, the phone does not connect to ANYONE!!!! So I was forced to look up the number of the hotel online, be transferred to the hotel from the reservation desk, only to find that the room service person spoke no English and had to find someone else to help me.
I would tell you that unless you are forced to stay in this area ( as I was for business meetings) stay clear of this hotel!!!!
