I had trepidation about booking this hotel after reading the reviews. But it worked out well for a hotel near the Medical Center. It has been updated to some extent, not perfect , but serviceable for the price. It is very clean. Beds were comfortable. The mini fridge and microwave worked fine. I didn’t have the opportunity to use the pool or gym but they looked ok. Gym is small There were a few ants, but hey, it’s Houston, everybody has ants at one time or the other. The WI-FI worked fine. No problems with hot water. Did not have time to eat at the breakfast bar. There is a shuttle to the various hospitals and buildings from 7am to 7pm, except on weekends. For my purposes, I found it very walkable to BAylor St Luke’s. The parking is FREE which is a real deal in the Med Center. The staff is attentive and very Kind. They’re aware of the stress some of their guests are under and it shows.Shout out to Jasmine, who really helped me out.
I stayed here for business working at Texas Children's Hospital for 4 days. Was a great location, where I just had to cross the street to be in the hospital. They also had a good amount of parking, and the internet was solid. Those are the good things.
It was pretty disappointing how the staff reacted to both complaints I brought up. When I checked into my room and ran the bathtub, dozens of ants came spewing out. When I called and alerted the front desk, they reacted like this was a normal occurrence and asked if I wanted a new room on the same floor. They brought the keys up to me approximately 15 minutes later for me to check into the new room. When I went to use the gym that night, there was a large puddle in the middle of the entryway. The room smelled of mildew and when I reported this to the front desk they said they had no clue it was there, and again didn't seem to think it was a big deal. The solution appeared to be a piece of paper saying the gym would be closed for the remainder of my stay. That next day when the microwave stopped working, I didn't bother reporting it and just ate my food cold. Breakfast was edible, but nothing to write home about. Make sure you check the bedding for bugs before setting down your suitcase on anything.
Very good variety of breakfest, shuttle to hospitals, always so helpful, clean, good internet, desk clerk always go way beyond, indoor pool is always clean and have towels out, gym is nice, parking is good highly recommend
This hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood within the Texas Medical Center district and the Metro-Rail “Dryden-TMC” station is just a 2-3 minute walk away. The hotel is also very close to Rice University, where I participated in an event. The check-in and check-out process is fast and the staffs are efficient. Even though the reception is unmanned sometimes, the staffs will come quickly as the reception is monitored by security camera. There are vending machines beside the reception offering drinks, snacks and simple food (e.g. burrito) which you can reheat with the in-room microwave. The free breakfast has a variety of items, including hot food (such as egg, sausage, and DIY waffles), bread, cornflakes, yogurt and fruits. I like the spacious breakfast room with ample tables. There is free wifi covering all floors of the hotel and the wifi is fast most of the time. There is a small swimming pool and a small gym on the first floor, but there is no changing room nearby (the nearest toilet requires a walk past the main entrance and reception). As a result, I often saw wet footprints in the back elevator (the elevator closest to the pool). The hotel looks a little dated compared to other hotels in the same neighborhood and the price is not cheap, but in general I have a pleasant stay.
Great resource if your loved one needs attention at a hospital. The Houston Medical Center is world famous for excellent health care. Hotel was 10 minute walk; great when the appt was 5am. Room was comfortable & larger than expected. Cost was reasonable, plus indoor pool, fitness center & breakfast. Staff was friendly & service was good.
