The resort was nice. We held a family reunion there. Our grandchildren enjoy playing in the pools and the nearby water park. There was a mini golf
course, a game room in the activities center. It was very hot in June in Texas! One of our rooms had no water the morning we were trying to check out. I'm sure that was probably out of their control.

Cabins were clean, nice and in the woods. We had two teenage boys with us so the loft was ideal for them. The staff was extremely helpful. The resort did not have a game room but did have many activities (basketball, softball/baseball field, pool, shuffleboard, ping pong, fishing pier, nature trail). Free WiFi in the cabins! We spent a week there. Not far from Tyler and there was a grocery store (Brookshire's) 2 miles down the road. Our only concern were all the raccoons that came out at night. They came right up on our porch. Do not feed them or they will keep coming back.

Cozy little cabin with loft. Staff was very courteous. Not much to do unless you bring a boat for the lake. The pool is small and lots of kids. They have a sister resort about 5mi away and you have access to the facilities. The sister resort has a water park (extra charge) but it was crowded with kids. We were bored and left a day early.

Cabin was older and some signs of wood rot under bathroom floor. Furniture was old in need of replacing. Two TVs with cable, but TVs were old. Bedroom TV was not even a flat-screen.

Downstairs was a bedroom with queen bed (old). The loft had two twin beds.
WiFi Internet in the cabin was excellent with fantastic speed.

I can't say enough about the staff here. Always super helpful and professional. The A/C was failing at 7pm Saturday night, and they got the maintenance man out and the unit repaired by 9pm, and we slept great. I've not received that level of service from the best hotels.

My parents bought the one week for this resort in 1989. This resort has been maintained well all these years. It's rustic. Not a "spa resort", but that is not what it is intended to be. Family outdoor fun is what it delivers. Nice for this year is the broadband wireless internet in the cabins.

Cabins are two level. One bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. So it is best suited for the parents and kids. Kitchen and living room are open floor plan. The kitchen is not fitted with gourmet accoutrements, but that's not the vibe of this place. More of a biscuits & gravy with bacon and eggs instead of soufflé vibe. There is a BBQ grille outside each cabin. We've always been able to prepare wonderful meals for our gang.

The beds are comfortable. The site is quiet. I always get great rest here.

The pool is clean. The activities are fun. I do miss archery, but I guess liability got in the way.

Looking forward to many annual vacations in the future.

I am not sure if all cabins were laid out the same or not. Ours was a 1 bedroom with a loft and a sofa sleeper. It was pretty close to perfect for my wife and I with our 3 kids and my mom. The most difficult part was 6 people sharing 1 bathroom. Beds were all comfortable. Staff was friendly. We participated in a couple of the planned events ( root beer chug and bingo). Pool was pleasant while we were there. It is somewhat shaded and we were often the only ones there. I think due to tree over hang there were a few more insects that dropped in the pool. Resort has basketball, shuffleboard, kids play area, and miniature golf. Lake view is very nice. There is a sister resort where you can also do activities (just need to register there with your Lake o the Woods pass)...larger sunnier pool, marina etc. Laundry room is also available at sister resort and is complimentary. (However there were only 6 machines / dryers. They were all occupied when we went. 2 of the washing machines were down.)
The wildlife near the registration house and pool are VERY comfortable with guests.
We had a couple of squirrels and racoons that came right up to us. One of the squirrels (grey- named Jenny) would actually climb on you if you sat still enough.

We have done Texas the last two years at the Old Silverleaf / Holiday Inn Club vacation locations and we have had a great experience both times. We LOVE Texas.
(ALSO see review for Pops Chicken which is a local restaurant not far from the resort) Great place to eat close by.
