Stayed for 1 night, food lovely, friendly staff, rooms dated/shabby, room cleaning not good, thankfully bed sheets new, not worth the money, wouldnt stay again. Food lovely & restaurant always full, think owners main focus is unfortunately just on the pub/restaurant.

Me and my partner booked to stay here on Sunday night with our 7 month old puppy. We have never stayed in a hotel before with her, only in a cottage so was not sure what to expect as to how they accommodate dogs. This place was so homely and welcoming, very warm and there was nothing to be of too much trouble for any of the staff. They all loved our puppy, gave her bowls of water and plenty of biscuits.

We had an evening meal in the pub, the food was amazing. 3 course meal each and 2 drinks each and was less than £60. We still felt full at breakfast, you had a choice of what you wanted for breakfast and even offered to cook something for the dog.

We asked if we could leave the car in the car park behind the pub as we had arrived earlier than the check in time and was told this was fine. We arrived back to the hotel at about half 2 and had a drink, they said the room was ready for us if we wanted to go up. There isn’t a lift so if your dog is not good with stairs then you would have to carry them. There are quite a few stairs.

The room was nice and spacious, we had a big 4 poster bed with an en-suite. The bathroom as an en-suite is however an extra charge, otherwise the bathroom is separate to the bedroom. However the bathroom was the only issue we had as the shower head didn’t fit properly into the holder and my partner had to hold it. The rooms were very warm and cosy and we both had a good nights sleep, as well as the dog!

We would definitely stay here again! Staff and hotel were lovely. Even with the current events, this pub is great and is handling everything perfectly!

Terrible experience and disappointed. When we arrived the pub appeared fine We were ask to pay upfront and given keys to our rooms. We found the room dated and requires refurbishment we tried to find another place online but everywhere was booked We regrettably stayed and decided to freshen up with a shower however no hot water walked down the long narrow staircases to complain never got any apology no hot water that night God knows what their kitchen and bar done to wash up Returned that night to watch a small TV no controller went to request a control for the TV none available again nobody said sorry Next day controller was left outside the door but they didn't work I thought our room was bad but our friends room was worse dirty shower damp room uneven floor it was like a broom cupboard I am trying to find a positive thing to say about our £90 a night stay but cannot I usually don't complain but our stay was discussing they got our money and weren't going to give any back Not even an apology

Firstly the staff were really lovely and welcoming. The room on the other hand was dated, poorly decorated, damp, mouldy and cold. The tv although it was tiny (postage stamp sized) didn’t work as there was no signal. After discovering the mass of sellotape holding the tv Aerial in the wall we clearly gave up. The bathroom with its rich aroma of bleach didn’t quite mask the mouldy bath mat and lime scale riddled shower head. The bed was less comfortable than a MDf board to sleep on. This was accompanied by pillows that had minimal filling. In fact I would gladly say the dogs bed (that we brought) has more comfort and hospitable features. Aware that I didn’t pay for a room in the ritz... this place is in dire need of a bit of cash spent to give a little more comfort to guests. Breakfast... well it wasn’t great. Toast was lightly warmed bread, bacon hit and miss, mushrooms were passable, cold beans, quite nice sausage and the coffee was well... foul. All in all wouldn’t recommend or stay again... ideally we would love a refund but let’s hope the money goes to either a new bath mat, pillows or something to bring the room into the current century!

Stayed 2 nights here, room lovely big bathroom, comfy beds.
Breakfast good ,food in the evening good also.
Really warm welcoming place, staff friendly and helpful.
Spotlessly clean everywhere
Small car park at back which was great as parking can be a problem in market square.
Would definitely stay here again.
