Chantal was very accommodating as we booked last minute in high season. She was friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and clean as was the washroom. Quiet even though it was full. Older home but lots of charm. Breakfast was amazing. Met some interesting people. Thanks Chantal!
Disappointingly, we found Chantal to be an unfriendly hostess. When we arrived in the evening, she told us that we should quickly bring our stuff from the car because "she would like to get this over with as soon as possible". She had placed a big binder of rules in the bedroom which also stated what soaps we could and couldn't use. We were basically confined to our bedroom and couldn't use the common room because she told us it was very late at 9pm. She insisted we pay her cash only. The bed was most uncomfortable. My back hurt in the morning. The shower room is very tight. It was like being in a coffin my husband said after he got out of the shower. He said it was the most claustrophobic experience of his life. The only positive thing I can say is that she makes a good breakfast.
Due to a fault of my own, I made a booking error and found myself with out a place to stay on my recent motorcycle trip to Gaspe. The fault was all mine, but the hotel was sold out and kindly called the local chamber and found me a room at Gite la Normandy. Chantal is the kind of host that goes the extra distance. After greeting em she helped me contact the booking agency for my other room and help guide me to how to get my reservation cancelled with out penalty. Gite la Normandy is a lovely home , with charm and grace. My room was spacious , clean , and got a wonderful nights sleep. The home is a short walk to town. Chantal made some good suggestions on where to eat and what to do. She even had a book on motorcycle riding the gaspe ii was able to look at. She has two lovely small dogs and a cat, they are all rescue animals which resonates highly with me. Breakfast was yummy and all home made , the creps and fresh fruits are to die for. Thanks Chantal for a great visit. Hope to stop by again.
We were fortunate enough to find a room here, thanks to the nice folks at Information Quebec in Gaspe. For $103 (all in) we got a double bed with a shared bathroom. There are 5 rooms in total. We had room #1, which was next to the bathroom, which can be a blessing and a curse (for noise). The owners kindly supply earplugs for the guests. Breakfast (included) was fruit, toast, muffins, coffee, juice and a homemade quiche which was delicious. Free internet, lots of outdoor seating on the patio. Owner has two small dogs which bark when someone comes in, but they always stay downstairs. No air conditioning, but house is quite shaded. No locks on doors, but once inside, use can use the security chain.
Chantel is committed to making a terrific breakfast emphasizing local, fresh, and organic. Our room was quite pleasant also, and spotless. The B&B is well-located an easy 5-minute walk from the center of town but out of the bustle. The only issue is only one bathroom for four guest rooms.
