This hotel is on the outskirts of town and as such not much in the immediate vicinity. so be aware and do your research before complaining!
I booked this hotel for an overnight stay coming from the new Resorts World Catskill Casino. It is very easy to get to from the Highway (17) which is a plus.
Hotel grounds were clean. Adequate parking during my stay there.
Front Desk- was small but staffed and manned by very friendly people. Check in was a tad slow but nothing unusual.
As mentioned, the hotel is a little on the old side but it is clean and well maintained. Decor is quaint and retro which I personally prefer. Gives a homey feeling.
Booked a single queen bed and was given a two queen bed room. Room size was decent. Not small at all. It was clean. Beds were comfortable and the pillows were soft.
AC/Heater was a combined unit and was new. Worked very well. There was a microwave which worked very well. The fridge was something else. It was not one of those micro fridges. It was a bigger sized fridge with a separate freezer door. Microwave, fridge and freezer worked very well.
Single serve coffee maker in the room. Used it and it works well.
Bathroom was clean and the potty worked very well. The hot water had good pressure and temperature. Toiletries were adequate. There was a hairdryer that we did not use. One nice thing here is that there is a separate switch for the fan. In other hotels, when you turn on the bathroom lights, the fan comes on too. A separate switch allows you to use the bathroom lights as a night light without having to hear a fan running.
There was a soda dispenser and ice machine by the front lobby.
Breakfast area was small and was part of the front lobby. Breakfast was continental. Pastries, bread, jam, jelly, cereals and some fruits. Coffee (which was surprisingly good) and juices were available. Sorry, not meat or eggs. But while desirable, it was ok for me. Allows me to get going without having to look for a breakfast place.
I read there was a pool but as it was raining, I did not check out the grounds From my window though, I could see a little playhouse for kids. As mentioned, the grounds looked very clean.
Internet:- look for the Guest account and just follow the instructions to log in. NO need for a password. From my room the internet speeds were excellent. At night, 8pm (which means lots of usage) I got 8.6 mbps download and 21 mbps upload. I watched a video on youtube without buffering. Ping was decent at 17 msec.
The next morning at 8 a.m. I redid the test and I got 20 and 21 for download and upload respectively. Contrast this with a supposedly 5 star Atlantic City Casino hotel where I could barely watch a video without frequent buffering.
The TV was a large flat screen TV. I did not check all the channels outs Suffice it to say that I found enough stations to watch. and yes. There was HBO.
There is a work table with a power strip on the side but it had only two extra outlets. As is, you cannot leave all your electronics on the table. There are nearby outlets but were used by the lamps, fridge, microwave and tv. However on the other walls there were several outlets enough to charge our cell phones, and ipads. Just not on the table.
Around the area- not much in terms of a nearby place to eat (at least none that we saw as we exited Highway 17). However, less than a mile away, there is a Super G (I think that was the name) restaurant where you can get some hot foods (none when we were there as it was a bit late) and some frozen foods that you can heat in your microwave. So it is not as if you would starve staying there. We found via google, a sit down dinner about a mile away in the direction of town but it closes at 8 pm. That's why we decided that TV dinners were sufficient.
Now for my conclusion. A very good value for the price paid. Would I stay there again? Definitely! Especially as a stop over from the highway as it was very easy to get to.
