Great communication with Rae right from the booking stage and that continued throughout. Bruce was pleasing to talk to and made you feel immediately welcome. The Railroad Room was bright and comfortable. The queen bed made for a most restful sleep. The newly renovated en suite bathroom was clean, bright, and uncluttered. It came with all amenities that you would need.
Bruce was cognizant of my dietary requirements and made dishes favorable to my pallet. He even baked a dairy-free round of cornbread muffins that were fantastic and picked up Dairy-Free milk from the store.
The location was within 30 mins of Anden (where I had events to DJ) and it was easy to get to and from. There is a small town/retail area close by for shopping which is also nice.
I really liked the Scudder Hill House. It has a rustic charm with modern highlights.
I would stay there again in the future and would feel comfortable having my younger children stay there too.
Oh, and "Thanks Bruce" for the care package of Scones!
Beds comfortable. 3 of us in the Railroad Room which had 1 queen bed and 2 twin beds with a bathroom off of the entryway.
No closet, no place to put suitcases except on the floor.
AC window unit which worked great but didn't cool bathroom. It was unusually hot when were there in September.
Nice front porch to sit on and plenty of parking. Location was good.
We could hear the people above us walking around.
No curtain on hallway door to bathroom so bathroom door had to always be closed or people walking by could see in.
While we were gone one day, the owner came into our room, turned down our AC and turned off our lamps; the lamps were charging our light-up jewelry which we were taking to the rehearsal dinner. I've never had that happen before in a B&B or hotel room or really anywhere! (My daughter, who is an attorney said that the owner is allowed access to the room.)
The 3 of us thought that was ridiculous; we paid for the room, an AC unit was there for us to use and the owner should not have changed any of the settings or turned off our lamps.
We all agreed that there were better places to stay. Our kids rented a house which didn't have AC but had closets!
My husband and I stayed here for my birthday and fell in love with the beautiful home and great hospitality that Bruce offered at the Scudder Hill House. I highly recommend the Kirkside Park room as it has a lovely fireplace. Also, they offer a delicious breakfast in a warm and inviting dining room. We will definitely be back!
stayed Fri and Sat. in July. room was neat, clean and charming. Bed was very comfortable. We awoke to the smell of baking zucchini bread, delicious as were the blueberry pancakes ( nicely presented.) Rae and Bruce were charming and knowledgeable about the area and just fun to talk with
My husband and I recently planned a VERY last minute ski getaway with our sons (ages 15 and 12). After searching on line for hours and reading reviews, we finally decided on Scudder Hill House. What a beautiful B & B!
Let me begin by saying that Rae and Bruce are extremely gracious hosts. Prior to arriving and without our asking, Rae was thoughtful enough to email directions that she felt would be more convenient than what our GPS might suggest. This thoughtfulness continued as Rae and Bruce recommended nearby ski resorts to suit our family's needs. As a side note, the fact that guests are so conveniently located near 3 wonderful ski resorts is certainly an advantage to consider!
We stayed in the Railroad Depot Room, which was beautifully decorated and had a private bathroom. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room was neat and clean upon our arrival.
Each morning, Bruce prepared a delicious breakfast for our family. We enjoyed everything from chocolate chip pancakes, fresh mozzarella and salami omelettes, fluffy french toast, homefries, freshly baked bread, and fruit. These meals were served in the Common Area which is a quaint room kept toasty warm for their guests.
We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend staying at Scudder Hill House!
