Does it get any better than this, when you can experience the bush and feel like you are miles away from civilization, but only be a mere 2 1/2 hours drive from Johannesburg.
Camp Ndlovu welcomed us to their beautiful lodge with the sound of beating African drums and song, nothing makes me smile more than when lodges add these extra special little touches that make you feel like a tourist in your own Country.

The staff always have bright smiles on their faces and are eagerly waiting to attend to your every beck and call. The food is deliciously and lovingly prepared and you can see the chefs take great pride in their work and presentation.
The large rooms feel like you have your own villa which is closed off with a door creating a sense of total privacy. A splash pool and lounging deck area, outdoor bath and shower and a river facing patio where the sounds of little streams and flowing water take relaxation to another level.

The main lodge area is also elegantly decorated and boasts numerous very comfortable lounging areas where you can sit and watch wildlife grazing or passing by, and the large main pool draws you in and begs you to unwind with a refreshing drink.

We absolutely love the feeling the African bush evokes, a sense of complete peace and contentment, but at the same time, you cannot help but feel a childlike excitement of what you may discover or see, and no bush experience is ever alike.

Our rangers, April and Lazarus, were optimistic and passionate, getting us to sightings and into the right position to capture the moments perfectly.
Our morning started off with a male lion vocalizing and then walking off, eventually crossing right besides our vehicle. And that afternoon we encountered a female leopard and her 3-4 month old leopard cub walking along a road and then into the open runway stretch where we could take hundreds of photo’s of this cute little cub, who was curiously keeping an eye on all the vehicles trying to get a look at him.

The Dutch word, Welgevonden, translates to “well found” or “serendipitous discovery”
This magical piece of land transforms at every opportunity, offering breathtaking views of untouched African wilderness and memories to last a lifetime. There is no doubt that Welgevonden is one of the finest places to watch wildlife, sense wilderness and experience the spirit of Africa.

Upon arrival at Welgevonden reserve you will park your vehicle at the main gate and your lodge will collect you in a game vehicle, which is a great bonus as you immediately benefit from an afternoon game drive to the lodge. What really impressed and shocked me is that although the reserve boasts 20 lodges, when we drove in towards Camp Ndlovu we didn’t spot one, it feels so secluded and private and the lodges are designed and positioned in a way that you never see the other lodges. It’s even rare to see them throughout game drives, I love this as it makes me feel even more exclusive and isolated.

The Residence Portfolio have done an absolutely brilliant job at making Camp Ndlovu feel like home, and like you belong. We cannot wait for our next adventure to this beautiful lodge.

What a gorgeous place! We have just spent 3 wonderful nights at Camp Ndlovu and were so sad to leave.
The camp itself is beautifully decorated- every room sporting wonderful antique furniture and traditional rugs. The beds were so comfortable that the whole family are demanding an up grade when we get home!
Our children were thrilled by our own private plunge pool which looked out over a watering hole visited by elephants, zebras, warthogs and monkeys.
You know a place is doing something right when you are aware of the names of all 9 members of staff - they simply could not have done more for us and did so with such charm and grace.
The food was amazing - every meal wonderful, fresh, delicious food and so much of it!
Finally the safari itself exceeded all expectations. It is malaria free, big 5 and 3 hours drive from Jo’burg so from a practical perspective it is a good choice. We had a wonderful guide and found the whole experience just magical!
Bravo to Sanet (manager) and her wonderful team for giving us such a wonderful trip!

Had absolutely beautiful experience at Camp Ndlovu. African Safari with luxury comforts. Having this experience I could imagine how some Superstars have holidays. Very exclusive, very beautiful, comfortable and private. Your own pool, your own deck, your own outdoor bath and shower. Service is impeccable. Staff very attentive and make you feel at ease, comfy and spoilt. Food is delicious and presented uniquely. Absolutely awesome game drives.
Main area has a fantastic deck. You can sip your bubbly or espresso in the morning and watch animals coming very close. Elephants, zebras, baboons, kudus are regulars there.
Totally recommend.

This was our first trip to South Africa, and what an introduction to a country! There are seven staff, and each of them are friendly and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble, and there appears to be a genuine desire to ensure that everything is perfect. Much of this is thanks to Sanet, the manageress, who was a delight.
Our room was large, with a separate seating area. Indoor and outdoor bath and shower. Plunge pool with separate decking. Fully stocked complementary mini-bar and full tea and coffee making facilities.
The food was to the highest standard, and include an evening by an open fire called a Boma.
The game drives were led by Marvin, a knowledgeable and friendly guide, and through use of short-wave radios, we got see to all the expected big game. This private park asks that the guides stay on the tracks so don't expect to go parking right next to a lion eating a kill - the animals are given their respect.
We can't recommend this place highly enough. A triumph

Camp Ndlovu is perfect in every way, from the minute you arrive to saying goodbye to the team - everything is performed to 5* levels.

Food is fantastic, breakfast lunch and dinner are all superb - their two chefs do a fantastic job and will cater to most preferences - lunches especially were really good, grilled meat or fish skewers.

Game drives were brilliant, twice daily and Malvin was a top grade guide - we saw Lions, Elephants, Cheetahs, Leopard (just one), Rhinos, Hippos - everything you could want to see. We stopped for drinks and coffee also on each drive, Malvin makes a mean G&T

Rooms are all true 5* with every single thing you want, great facilities in each room including private plunge pools and huge outside showers and baths. For anyone who has stayed at their property in Johannesburg (The Residence) then they will know the attention to detail the owners go to in each room to make it unique.

We travelled as a couple, for a mini honeymoon right after our wedding - they whole trip was perfect.

Thanks to Sanet, David, Jack, Malvin, Nicolas and the rest of the wonderful team at Camp Ndlovu - we shall see you again hopefully soon.
