If I could give more than 5 stars I would.
This lodge is absoultely gorgeous and was the nicest Lodge we stayed in throughout our Namibia vacation.
The lodge itself is absolutely gorgeous: there are many spots for relaxing, sitting by the pool, reading, etc. The two pools are very nice with great views. The restaurant/bar area are very inviting.
The staff was very professional, friendly and warm, making us feel welcome from the start.
The chalets are absolutely beautiful inside with a balcony overlooking the landscape.
Around the lodge you can find a lot of hiking trails, to discover the area.
Unfortunately the Eagle's nest restaurant was closed while we were there (low season), but you can still climb up and enjoy the epic view. We watched the sunrise from there.
All in all a really wonderful experience, I highly recommend to anyone!!!
The Lodge is very nice, but the rooms are rather small and not everything is as new anymore. But the view from you room is one of the best you can get in Namibia. There are 2 pools and the whole hotel area is very cool with several view points. You can do some hikes during the day and take a closer look at the Vingerklip. If your lucky you can spot some elephants at the Ugab river (about 14 Kilometers from the Lodge).
They have to Restaurants, one at the lodge and one on top of the Mountain (which you'll have to climb for 20 minutes but it's well worth it). But the best thing by far is the kitchen. Their chef cooked probably the best meals we had in Namibia. You can't even describe how good the food was!
Staff and Owners are lovely hosts and do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. But also a special shout out to Asser who took great care of us and was a lovely guy!
HI All, You wont be disappointed, So far the Best Hospitality i have received was at this Lodge! The Friendliest Staff makes you feel so Welcome! We stayed up at Heavens Gate! The Perfect Cocoon for a couple :-) The Room is amazing with the View and the Privacy! Oh and I just loved the POOL!
I Got engaged up there so I wont be Forgetting it anytime soon!
We stayed 2 nights at Vingerklip and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The nature around the lodge and the views, both from the lodge/bungalows, and from the Eagle’s Nest restaurant up on the plateau, are in themselves an experience not to miss. Vingerklip Lodge is a destination in itself (see our pictures). The manager in particular was extremely nice and helpful but all staff were very friendly. I simply do not recognise the negative comments a recent reviewer made about the staff, nor the supposedly dire state of the facilities and food. Vingerklip Lodge is a 3-star accommodation and it delivers solidly at that level in a 5-star natural environment. One thing I do agree with is the need to do something about the two pools. They were cleaned thoroughly every morning by the staff but there must be an issue with the filtering system as the water was blurred and I saw no one use them.
From the outset we would agree with some previous reviewers that Vingerklip is a bit of a throwback and could use some updates/investment. That said, we had a lovely stay over our two nights and would definitely recommend this place. The greatest asset is the surrounding area which is gorgeous and we enjoyed several walks. The staff were lovely and genuinely seemed like they cared about the lodge and the guests. Management on site were clearly invested in ensuring guests were enjoying themselves. The food was solid and on par for what we had during our two weeks in Namibia. They opened up Eagle's Nest for us to have a drink and the views were beautiful - so peaceful. Wifi is only in the reception or pool area but this didn't bother us - it can be nice to have solid time away from the internet, but know you can get to it if you need to. The rooms were clean and air conditioning worked. All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.
