Wasn't sure if places like this still existed but they do and what a quaint place it was. The bar / dining room is a great area with a fantastic fire. Praises for the staff especially Jozzy behind the bar she was a gem and worked tirelessly to keep all the customers happy( well done) and the meals were all tasty. It must be good if the locals eat here as well. The let down was the rooms, although clean they are in need of upgrade especially the bathrooms, the male manager explained that it was a long slow process. The female manager could be a little more friendly.
I have stayed here twice before many years ago - nothing has changed. It is like stepping back to a time when life was slower with few mod cons. The ambiance is what makes this country Inn appealing - but it could be so much more! The accommodation is basic. I mean comfortable and cosy yes, but ou tyd! It could be updated and still keep it's charm. Yes - there was a note apologising for the old sheets which were on order - but each room should at least have a shower option with HOT water for the early birds. We liked the bar with the fire glowing making it welcoming as always and it was buzzing with locals and visitors so it is popular and the food has always been good - so thumbs up there guys! The oxtail was super! The staff members were good and friendly too and know their jobs well and fill in where there is a need to keep one happy. I would give more stars if the accommodation was just that much better.
We were one couple in a party of three who stayed one night on our way South.
Lovely furniture in lounges and bar. They unlicensed rooms were not modern but very nicely done. The bedrooms? What can I say. All three of our rooms were the same standard, dreadful. Think the last time they were decorated was probably in 1960, and I think that's being kind. They were very clean though and the beds comfortable. There was absolutely no heating in the bedrooms except for an electric blanket. To make things worse the bedroom door had a gap from the frame all round and as they kept the back door to the hotel propped open it was very cold. We asked if the had heaters but they didn't.
They do say on a notice in the room that they will be refurbished in 2017. Before you stay better check they have been done.
Breakfast was very good as was the snack we had in the bar at lunchtime. Lovely staff as well. The only problem is the state of the bedrooms.
We recently stayed at the Dullstroom Inn - it is not a modern hotel by any standards but is spotlessly clean and well-run. It is also very reasonably priced with off-street parking. There was a notice in the hotel room that management is in the process of doing some renovations and updates. With that said the room was very comfortable and while we missed having a shower in the en-suite bathroom the bath was more than adequate. The hotel restaurant was very good and had a nice menu with good choices on it and is clearly very popular as it was always busy. The hotel bar is also very popular and has a great vibe. The staff at the hotel were fantastic and on hand to assist where they could. Definitely a place to visit again - well situated in Dullstroom and pretty much walking distance to anywhere in the main centre.
Very cosy bar and restaurant with good food. Also delightful to sit by the blazing fire in the lounge.
But rooms are very dated and urgently need upgrades. Also the room was cold, no central heating, just a small fan heater.
Staff very helpful.
No wi-fi for residents. .
