We recently held a family reunion at the Bush House. Sue, the owner, worked with us to block all the rooms so it felt like our own private lodge. The game viewing was fantastic, especially at the underground hide. I've never been so close to elephant before. It was truly a spiritual experience.
The service level was very high, both during our stay and before we arrived. Sue went out of her way to answer all our questions and accommodate our every request. We have one family member who is diabetic and Sue even offered to make desserts with Xylitol if that would be helpful!
The onsite staff can't be praised highly enough. Rebecca, Janne, Patrick, Chef, Minky, and the rest of the team were truly there for us 110%, bringing smiles and joy to us each and every day. The food was excellent and we had some very special evenings with dinners at the boma, out under the trees, and in the formal dining room.
This was the second stay at the Bush House for part of our group who also visited in 2007. In addition to the addition of the very unique underground hide, the facilities are significantly improved - there is now a very nice pool and gym for guest use. All of the rooms are very comfortable and well appointed.
Madikwe itself has wonderful game viewing opportunities, and Patrick somehow conjured up anything we asked for. We saw the Magnificent Seven too many times to count, and many fantastic, VERY close up sightings of things which are normally very rare to see, especially Wild Dog. Our most unique sighting during a game drive was probably when we happened upon a burrow with three very young Black Backed Jackal pups, something I never thought I'd see.
What a wonderful family experience for us. Memories to last a lifetime. Thank you to Sue and all the staff! Until our next visit, from the bottom of our hearts, you have our deepest gratitude.
We had a fabulous 5 days at the Bush house with family.
Everything was perfect. Bedrooms lovely with all necessary items.
So many places to relax! Lounge, stoep, pool, dam.. etc.
Our two lovely ladies, Janné and Rebecca were so sweet and helpful! Nothing was ever too much! Every supper was at a different place. Always a surprise.
The food was always excellent!
Patrick was an excellent game ranger and always smiling and helpful.
I can not complain about anything. Everything was perfect!
Thank you for a lovely time!
Definitely worth a visit - staff were friendly, courteous and saw to every need. Game guide had an incredible and diverse amount of knowledge. Food and accommodation were top notch - more than a home away from home. The wildlife experience we had was just amazing, something different on every drive. The garden was beautiful and was lovely to sit in and watch the birds or the animals up to their antics at the waterhole. The underground hide gave a different and closer experience to game viewing. A must for anyone interested in photography. There is a small pool which we didn't try but would definitely be worthwhile with the summer heat.
Our first visit to The Bush House on recommendations from friends. And what we thought might be a once in a lifetime thing quickly turned into us making plans for our next visit in the van to the airport upon departure.
Sue and Gordon has created a lodge like no other in beautiful and very importantly, not crowded, Madikwe game reserve. The warmth and hospitality from check-in to departure by the owners and amazingly attentive staff is second to none. Meals, from pre game drive snack to dinner were plentyfull and exquisite and the wine selection intriguing to these two aficionados.
The property, with everything from the underground hide at the waterhole to pool area, beautiful lounges and dining tables set up in the garden within view of the waterhole while water buffalos were enjoying a drink or bath, will stay with you forever.
The game drives, twice a day, in this beautiful game reserve is executed to perfection by ace guides Patrick and Damian. Incredible knowledgeable, entertaining and so respectful in the pursuit of the wildlife for us guests. This avid photographer had the most beautiful time in the Landcruiser!
And the negative? Very predictable, but too short of a stay. We will remedy that the next time.
Thank you for a beautiful experience. And never change a thing.
We were a group of two families and had a great wonderful 5 days at the bush house. Sue and Gordon were wonderful hosts and so helpful with any requests. The lodge is beautifully maintained with wonderful gardens and the watering hole was constantly full of So many different animals - in vast numbers. The children enjoyed cricket/ football and the pool while watching the animals who seemed oblivious to the children! We had amazing game drives and also a wonderful bush walk (without the children). The extra fenced in area meant we could also do a mid morning run to work off all the amazing food we consumed! Overall highly recommend.
