Our family (2 adults and 1 ten-year-old) spent 3 nights at Notten's and were thrilled with the accommodations and amenities. The ten-year-old thought the pool was top notch and knows now to watch out for the monkeys! Our game drives were wonderful and we were fortunate enough to see a lion eating a warthog and hyenas eating a rhino leg. We enjoyed the bush walk and junior bush drive. We can't even begin to describe how good and bountiful the food was. Notten's was a great choice for us.

It’s hard to do Notten’s justice in words. We stayed for for 4 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. What a fantastic lodge! We have been lucky enough to stay in a few private reserves in Southern Africa and Notten’s is by far one of the best. The staff are all so friendly and it’s clear it’s a family orientated business with some staff having been there for 30+ years. The rooms are very spacious with excellent facilities and views. The communal area had stunning views of wildlife. The food was excellent with a great variety serviced across breakfast to dinner. The team catered for dietary requirements very well.

Our guide Thulani was exceptional and very knowledgable. Not only did we learn a lot about the animals and the bush, but we had a lot of fun doing it. All the staff, guides and trackers were amazing.

Outside of driving we had the option of relaxing by the pool in the afternoons, having spa treatments or experiencing the bush on foot with Tiniyko and Ben - highly recommend!

We cannot recommend this place enough.

Thank you for making our honeymoon so special!

The Nottens Bush Camp was the first stop on my first visit to South Africa. It couldn't have given me a better introduction! The place is superb in so many ways - wonderful, spacious rooms; absolutely delicious and varied meals; excellent game viewing and a staff that focuses on making your trip comfortable and enjoyable.

I was first struck by the 'look' of the place upon arrival. It somehow looks just like what it is - a high-quality, comfortable and relaxing bush resort. There is a wonderful large pool, a work out facility (not like the best US clubs, but more than sufficient for cardio and light weight lifting), and a relaxing dining area and sitting room/bar that looks out toward the bush.

I was able to see the 'big five' within 24 hours of arrival and on two instances saw 4 of the 'big five' before breakfast. This included 3 sightings of different leopards, two sightings of lions, very close encounters with rhinos, along with beautiful giraffe, elephants and several types of antelopes (impalas, etc.). The guide that I had was a wealth of knowledge and more than happy to share in a very friendly and helpful manner. Knowing that several in our car wanted to see 'cats', he made sure that we weren't disappointed.

All in all, a first rate place..

My husband and I spent four days at Nottens this month. The staff is lovely and the location is fabulous. The game drives were what I would call leisurely with a lot of amazing views of the big five and many others. We had two fabulous encountes with a male leopard! . Having been on game drives before in another area near Kruger I did appreciate the amount of animals to be seen here which allowed for a less adrenaline-fueled drive to search for them. Owing to that I would highly recommend them for seniors and children. As well as for the ample amount of food served mainly in buffet style and the close proximity of the rooms to the lodge. The pool was also clean and warm without any chemical smells at all and my massage was fab (and a great price too)
There is room for some improvement....
I would have preferred that our room had been somewhat refurbished. It had a very heavy musty smell to it and the fixtures were quite dated. for example our bathtub, as lovely as it is to have a bathtub, it did have rust in it from chips to the enamel. As well as the difficulty to set the shower temperature without scalding your arms. I'm not sure what kept falling from the ceiling but it looked like mouse poop? (Room 7)
I do hope that they stop using plastic. Plastic water bottles and small plastic bottle bathroom amenities made me cringe and the gift basket in the room was a nice touch but again I really wish I saw more environmentally friendly options.
I would highly recommend them for seniors and families.

I am beyond impressed by Notten's Bush Camp. Staff are amazing and friendly - they make you feel welcomed and special. Guides and trackers are skilled so you have a good chance of seeing the animals.

The food at Notten's was amazing and the staff surprised us with a barbecue with a full bar on one of the sunset drives as well as bonfire dinner another night- amazing. I know that some of the reviewers think it's an inconvenience that there are not lamps in the lodges but we thought it was absolutely romantic to come back from the game drives and have the whole lodge (actually the whole Bush Camp) lit up by candles ...and if you are lucky you might get a romantic bath too!!. We also enjoyed having dinner at a long tanke with the other guests.

Despite only recieving a maximum of 16 guests per night there is wi-fi, a pool, gift shop and gym on the premisses for the one who can drag him/ herself from sipping a glas of wine in the treehouse overlooking the peaceful bush and bear he waterhole.

Thank you Dale and everyone else at Notten's- We hope to see you all again some day!!
