My new husband and I had an incredible experience at Ebony. The lodge has a grand old safari feel to it, picture big leather chairs, silver candlesticks and stuffed animals. But with no stodgy feel to it. The staff is exceptionally friendly and the rooms are outstanding.

Each room has a private pool, outside sitting area with oriental carpet and big comfy chairs, outdoor shower, an indoor library, big bedroom and modern bathroom.

The wildlife viewing was superb. We had come from Singita Sweni / Lebombo (which we also loved) but had better wildlife at Ebony. It depends on the time of year and the rains so that won't always be true. And all the animals were quite close to the lodge so we didn't have to drive far to see things. Sometimes they were too close to the lodge! We saw 4 male lions within 100 feet of the lodge. At the same time it doesn't feel like a zoo and you feel like you are in the wilderness which is exciting.

The staff set up special surprises for us and romantic dinners. We asked to do a wine tasting in their fabulous wine cellar which I would highly recommend.

We had a phenomenal guide at Lebombo and were less impressed at Ebony, though that didn't impact our overall experience. I'd recommend reading through the reviews here to see if there are guides people recommend and asking for those guides ahead of time. You stay with the same guide for the entire trip for a consistent experience.

Also, I didn't realize how different Lebombo / Sweni would be from Ebony in terms of landscape, so I would recommend going to both to experience that difference!

We stayed at Sweni and Ebony and the higher level of service at Ebony was notable. The staff really went out of their way to make you feel welcome and attend to your every need.

The room was large and well appointed, had a great view and the private pool was just the best.

Our first safari was in Kenya so coming to Ebony was something like a Disneyland experience. Kenya was much more rustic (and for me, more natural) and Ebony MUCH more polished (even much more polished than Sweni). This was a very "western" experience. I mean that with the service, food and accomodations, you might think you were in an exotic location in the US.

The river was very low (to non-existent) because of the drought but we saw lots of animals on the game drives. Johan was our guide and he was very good. Sometimes though, I felt like we should be giving the animals more space. Not for safety purposes but because we were "getting in their face".

They have a fitness center which I really appreciated after sitting around eating and sitting around on the game drives all day.

Dear Egliz, Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review – we are delighted that you had such a special stay at Singita Ebony Lodge. What a privilege it is for you to be able to have experienced both East and South African safaris. The open spaces and volumes of animals in East Africa areas vs. the closeness in proximity to animals and intimacy of the South African circuit are just one of the many contrasts in the experience, hence Singita being fortunate enough to have incredible properties in both ecosystems for our guests to experience. We trust you will have a great year ahead and hope to welcome you back in the near future. Best Wishes, Tom Rutherford General Manager Singita Sabi Sand Lodges

Look no further - Singita Ebony Lodge is the best! We loved it all!

The game was simply amazing and our guide and spotter, Danie and Golden, were extremely knowledgeable, friendly and fun. We had a blast and saw amazing animals in action nearly non-stop. It was as if they were summoning the animals on command. Leopard - here’s one. Rhino - here you go. Lion cubs - viola! Wild dog pups - check! Really?!

The service was out of this world! The staff takes the time to get to know you and takes any and all steps to ensure a great experience. Ben - half court jester / half hyena, was clearly a standout for his great personality, stories and interaction with guests. Likewise, the rest of the dream team, including Bromlyn, Tumelo and Chantal - were also spectacular.

How about the food? Wow - so delicious throughout and honestly, such an upside surprise. Kudos to the chef and his team! Similarly, the wine was superb and the somm was again, very knowledgeable, personable and accommodative. Oh - and the room? I mean, really? Taking a shower and watching elephants walk by or jumping in the great plunge pool and gazing at the passing giraffes - are you kidding me?!

I can’t even put proper words to the experience that we enjoyed at Singita and how wonderful, fun and engaging we found all of their employees. I can’t wait to return and made a case that they should hire me as a Monkey Minder apprentice - fingers crossed!

Thank you Coleman and tenburr, Mona, Adell,Ed and Lindsey as well as shadwick and the cleaning ladies who made this trip fantastic. The chef made five star meals. I am a very big critic and gave the last hotel a one out of five so I lay it out. The wine selection is the best and largest in Africa as they have a big organic wine selection. This our second safari--the first one was okay but was very mediocre compared to this place. We had the pleasure seeing many animals, like 600 buffaloes and 20 elephants as well as the big five and a beautiful Cheatah. It is worth to spend the extra bucks to go to this place. Your room will be stocked with drinks and snack that are included. The laundry is also included. My wife and I had an outstanding time.

There isn't much I can say other than WOW! The service, hotel staff, park guide and tracker, room view, inclusions, accomodation and every other facet of the Singita experience is second to none.

The way they get to know their guests and tailor all experiences including food and wine offerings is faultless, If I could experience it again tomorrow I would do so without hesitation. My wife and I travel overseas two to three times per year and still can't fathom how any experience will match what Singita gave us. Yes, they are expensive but you get what you pay for and much more. We came here after spending two nights at Sweni and the staff already knew our likes and requirements, they even put on a private wine tasting for us in their cellar! Highly recommended

Hi There, Thank you for getting in touch. We hope you really enjoyed your stay with us at Boulders Lodge recently. The Ebony suites are slightly smaller than at Boulders Lodge, but around the same size and extremely comfortable. Suite 10 is river facing and close to the main lodge. Please let me know if there is anything else we can assist with. Thanks and have a lovely day further!

Dear Barbara, Thank you for reaching out to us via TripAdvisor. To answer your question regarding the size of the family suites – yes, they are in fact considerably larger than our other lodge suites. The family suite consists of a lounge, master bedroom and a second children’s bedroom. Both rooms are en-suite. The approximate size of the family suite is 1292 square foot. The other lodges suites consist of a lounge and en-suite bedroom and on average are about 750 square foot in size. I hope that this has answered your question, please let us know if you need any additional information. Kind regards Singita
