Modern eclectic interiors were fun and quirky. The "wet room" style bathroom in Hannes cottage was a bit of a challenge. The kitchen could have been a bit better equipped. There was no ice tray for making ice and no plug in the basin so we used bowls.

This wonderful gem hidden away on the R407 between Klaarstroom and Prince Albert is a must for any avid traveler looking for a relaxed

We had the privilege of staying in Manor House. With it's clever layout and understated luxurious and classical furnishings it is was wonderful to take in the many clever uses of items and mix of styles brought together to create this special classical space.

I was really impressed by the size of the 4 large en suite bedrooms, 2 beautiful sitting areas with fire places, a magnificent open plan well kitted out farm kitchen and dining room where everyone gathered daily to share in the preparation of meals. The house has 3 verandas where we got to sit and take in the magnificent views of the olive groves, lavender fields, sheep who frequented the garden to graze on the front lawn and the magnificent Swartberg Mountain Range as well as eating lunches alfresco style.

During our stay we got to feed the baby lambs, milk Wendy the resident cow and had a fascinating olive oil tasting.

The highlight for me was walking the farm every morning and being able to take in the many interesting plants and flowers which are indigenous to the area, drinking water straight from the streams on the farm which originate directly from its source on the farm.

Chantal the farm manager/ Hostess is fantastic! Chantal took great care of us and baked the most amazing fresh olive loaves for us which we couldn't get enough of.

I can honestly say this has been one of my most memorable getaways. Vrisch Gewagt has something very special about it. I left feeling the need to return.

The cottage accommodation at Vrisch Gewagt Olive Farm is truly magnificent. The cottages interior designs have been carefully thought through to provide guests with relaxed elegance and a sense of space and light throughout the guest areas, bedrooms and bathrooms. All fittings are of the highest quality and further demonstrates the attention to detail and thought put into designing these beautiful cottages. At sunset the views are particularly amazing and the clear star filled skies are something to behold after dark. This accommodation cannot be recommended highly enough.........outstanding!

I almost don’t want to write this review as I don’t want the place to get booked up before our next stay! Had a wonderful three nights in Hannes cottage (I wish it had been more), just perfect for two, and the perfect start to our South Africa visit. The cottage was very well equipped, and the farm produce provided by Chantelle and her team was delicious. Great braai facilities (including free wood) and lovely views (and wildlife) in every direction. What was especially impressive was how cool the cottage stayed in the intense heat of the Karoo summer - we had one day in the 40s and it was still cool inside. Only thing to note is take care with the shower and the wet room effect - I found tilting the shower head slightly and being careful about water splashes kept the floor water to a minimum!
Hiking up the valley to the river was great, as was the farm dam - a 500 metre swim each way, a nice little work out, then relax on the deck. Plus all the delights of the Swartberg on your doorstep. Thanks Lara for a seamless booking process and Chantelle and her team for looking after us so well on site. Fabulous, will definitely be back.
