My stay at the Hout Bay Hideaway was one of the best holidays I can remember. The accommodation was indulgent comfort at its best. A quiet setting in an indigenous garden and abundant birdlife. The weather was perfect and I was grateful to have the saltwater swimming pool to dip into. The hosts, Sue and Martin, were kind and gracious and made me feel at home.
The Hout Bay Hideaway is located in a quiet exclusive residential area. The house is beautiful with antique furnishings and is spotless clean. The hosts Sue and Martin were wonderful making our stay memorable. We had the pool view room which was lovely over looking the tropical gardens and pool which was lovely for a swim. We had breakfast served on our private balcony which was fabulous with delicious cereal, fresh fruits, yogurt and lovely cakes. Everything was excellent you won’t be disappointed if you stay here.
We began our honeymoon in South Africa at The Hout Bay Hideaway with a five night stay. It was a wonderful place to kick off our trip. The location is great being on a lovely quiet street but only a short distance from the centre of Hout Bay. Hout Bay itself is really nice and also in a great location for exploring the rest of the Cape Town area. The whole property is beautiful and the room we had at the back overlooking the garden was perfect. The room was extremely clean and comfortable with access straight on to a lovely veranda and then the garden with pool. Breakfast every day was delicious. Sue and Martin are absolutely wonderful hosts and were so welcoming and helpful with loads of good tips for places to eat and visit. Would recommend to anyone and would love to go back again in the future. Thanks for a truly lovely stay, Emily and Tom.
This beautiful B&B, owned by British couple Sue & Martin, makes a wonderfully peaceful home from home. You can spend your days relaxing by the tropical garden pool, or head out to discover markets, shops, restaurants and sprawling beaches. You can even take a soak in the alfresco bathtub, if you like, where you can star-gaze with a glass of rosé!
This place has it all - a beautiful garden, delicious breakfasts and a relaxed, kick-your-shoes-off feel, that could only come from staying in a home rather than a hotel. We felt ourselves unwind as soon as we arrived.
The Hideaway is the kind of place where you could happily spend lazy days doing very little, but it’s also an excellent base for exploring Cape Town and the vicinity - and that’s exactly what we did most days, fresh from a blissful night’s sleep. Our hosts recommended that we download the Uber app, rather than using taxis. We did just that - and used it to get around in the evenings, which was fab - and super cheap.
Sue & Martin are genuinely friendly and helpful hosts – and we can see why their guests keep returning year after year. We will certainly look forward to our next visit there. Thank you so much for your wonderful and warm hospitality, Sue & Martin!
We had the opportunity to stay here for 5 days. Sue and Martin are fabulous hosts and the Hideaway provides a wonderful base, furnished with African art and conveniently located in this quiet residential area, close to the beach.
There’s plenty to do locally, but Sue & Martin were always on hand to offer additional suggestions and practical support when one of our group fell ill during the stay.
And breakfast on the balcony each morning was a real treat... wonderful food in a tranquil setting over looking the garden/pool.
Top tip: download the Uber app before departing. It’s really handy following an evening out in one of the many local restaurants.
