We stayed in the Uitsig Suite on the upper floor for 4 nights. It is a spacious room with lots of privacy. Very individually furnished with great attention to detail. The always-filled minibar, refilled coffe capsules and snacks are just as much part of the hotel's standard as the extremely comfotable bed (which can be heated).
The entire 'hotel complex' is perfectly located in a quiet residential area in Franschhoek. It is exceptionally well maintained, beautifully decorated and invites you to linger. The hosts are enthusiastic and helpful and the team is very attentive, friendly and likeable.
We especially enjoyed the excellent breakfast, prepared by hand with much love and fresh products, and the drinks before dinner in the beautiful, vintage style Orangerie.
We can highly recommend Akademie Street Boutique Hotel and will definitely return.

4 things I loved about my stay at Akademie Street Boutique Hotel:

1.) THE ACCOMMODATIONS - it is clear that decorating the rooms was a labor of love. Its just so nice to spend time in your room here. They also have a private pool and a wood burning hot tub. The refrigerator is stocked with free alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The shower is big and has great water pressure. The bed is very comfortable. They have bikes you can borrow. And the common areas of the hotel are immaculate.

2.) THE LOCATION - its situated in a safe quiet neighborhood and is a short easy walk away from all of the restaurants and shops. We walked each day to the wine tram. If you’re driving, there is easy designated parking at the facility.

3.) THE FOOD AND DRINKS - the breakfasts are epic! Great coffee, omelettes, eggs, breads, yoghurts, and fruits. Every night they put out wine, whiskey, and other beverages for the firsts to enjoy by the fire both before dinner time and after dinner time.

4.) THE PEOPLE - the hotel is run by the most friendly, happy, caring people who clearly love what they do. The service is impeccable without being overbearing at all. You get personalized, warm, genuine service from the moment you arrive.

This place is bulletproof. Book this hotel with total confidence. 5 Stars.

I loved every moment of my stay at Akademie. I have wanted to go for a while and when I finally did, they exceeded my expectations. My suite was so comfortable that I feel asleep the moment I arrived, it's also appointed with loads of little touches that are so useful to travelers and I couldn't think of anything else I would need. The staff are so friendly and extremely helpful with special mention to Declan, Fanie and Morne. Looking forward to staying again.

My fiance and I decided on a trip to South Africa and went through a travel agency which set us up here for two nights. Upon arriving, we were absolutely blown away by the accommodations, the friendly staff, and the absolutely amazing decor in each and every corner of Akademie Boutique Hotel. We were in awe over the attention to detail of the staff and the rooms. Everything you need to navigate the area is provided, including a cell phone, guidebook, and some excellent recommendations by the staff! We left for a horseback riding tour, and came back to some wine and dinner reservations already made for us.

The staff provided everything we needed during our stay, but I cannot say enough about the hotel itself. The antique decor and ornamental plants instantly brought our spirits to life and every room is better than the last. Having breakfast, or sitting for a drink at the end of the day was quite blissful and relaxing.

If you are considering staying here, I can't recommend it enough.

We had an amazing stay at Akademie. Every detail is considered and it is clear that a lot of thought and planning went into the design of the hotel and the services that guests would require. Each room is unique and beautifully decorated. The seasonal fruit at breakfast and cognac by the fire in the Orangery after dinner were highlights. Declan and the rest of the team were very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended, we will definitely be back.

Questions & answers about the rooms

Answer from AkaFhk
Oct 2017 |
Hi Michelle, It's Declan here from Akademie Street. Thanks for your enquiry. Hopefully, you will get some independent answers to your query, but let me just outline a few of the differences between Gelatenheid A & B. Both are similarly finished to the same high 5 star standards & in a similar style, but the ground floor - B is ever so slightly larger. It boasts a larger lounge area and has a kitchen. It also has it's own private external entrance & private parking bay. The big advantage with the upstairs suite, is obviously the balcony and of course the views! Whilst my own personal preference would be 'B' on the ground floor, early indications are that guests prefer the upstairs 'A' suite! But, as I say, hopefully, you will get some independent opinions. Kind Regards, Declan.
