Centre-Ville,as the name suggest is pretty much in the center of the beautiful town of Franschhoek.
The address was easy to find and the welcome was warm.
While the house is a lovely old home, built in 1905, it has every facility that you can think of. WiFi, flat screen television, air-conditioning in the room, and a wonderful electric blanket on the large bed.
The bathroom had wonderful fluffy white towels, a warm gown and most importantly, HOT water.
I spied a swimming pool so one can chill off in summer. (May stay was in the middle of winter.)
A leisurely full English Breakfast was served in the morning.
The attention to detail was amazing and the service was 5 star.
I will certainly stay at Centre-Ville Guest House, next time I stay in Franschhoek.

Arrival:
We had to ring on the bell and wait for the owner to arrive from his house on the other side of the street.
Room:
Room Passion has misleading pictures on the website as you don´t see that the bathtub is next to the bed and the toilet doesn´t have a proper door. The ceiling is way lower than you can imagine.
We got another room after a lot of begging. They didn´t say anything about the R 1000 they wanted extra for this room.. huge surprise when we checked out. The hostess was extremely rude accusing us for not done enough research before artival. We booked through Booking.com and this is usually a safe card. This host has her own webpage and expects guests go through that site ˋs pictures as well- before they arrive. Absurd.

Breakfast:
Way below average. Don´t let you be fooled by the fancy table setting!!

Environment:
The sundeck is private. The pool tiny and unwelcoming. The house is old and smelly. You hear everything that happens in the house due to the old age of it. 140 years.

Good to know:
Something really awkward was that the housekeeper kept walking into our room several times a day. She even folded my underwear. This felt somewhat disturbing.
We value privacy and are used to respectful housekeepers. Get a sign to hang on the door please!

We are very well travelled and do not recommend you staying here. We didn´t like our stay here.
The last thing that happened was that the hostess yelled at us when we complained about our stay. That is not ok.

Elsa and Jaco were the most wonderful hosts. We were a group of ten visiting for a wedding on a wine estate. Felt like our home for 5 days, nice to have a sherry in the room. Wonderful table setting for breakfast for our group by the pool, great sun loungers to relax by the pool too. Nice to sit on the stoop to watch world go by, wonderful history to this colonial style building. All you could want when staying in Franschhoek. Elsa gave us a lift to/from Sunday Lunch at La Petit Ferme and organised taxis when we needed them, would love to return one day.

Our stay at Centre-Ville was delightful! We arrived before check in time and we were able to access our room to store our bags and freshen up, which was much appreciated. All staff were very friendly and helpful, and we were made to feel very welcome. Breakfast was delicious and generous, and was eaten in the beautiful garden area by the pool. The flowerbeds surrounding the B&B are colourful and very well maintained. The guesthouse is even more beautiful than the photos :) the location is also amazing - a 2 minute walk from the Wine Tram (which is great!) and centre of town. We would recommend to our family and friends and can't wait to go back. Thanks for having us! Shelley and Lucy x

Our second time in Franschhoek, we wanted to stay in the centre of town and you can’t get much closer. Very nice property with friendly owners and helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast. Our room was a tad on the small side and with a bit of a redesign the available space could be maximised. Pool looked murky but with the water shortages it might be expected.
