Stayed here recently, and while it was good overall, we did have a fairly significant issue. I read with interest how others describe being warmly greeted and info about the town, etc. Ours didn’t start out well and was rather awkward. My wife and I had NEVER done a B & B or AirBnB before so we were a bit anxious. With this in mind, we didn’t know quite what to expect and would have been nice if the experience was better. The issue was that we arrived at 2:45 for our GUARANTEED 3pm check-in. We were greeted by who we believe to have been Beth, but she oddly kept referring to “her” or “she” on certain comments. She seemed to be deflecting to someone else due to the difficult situation. My wife and I were both confused on that, but there was another woman there as well so who knows. Bottom line is the room wasn’t ready and we sat there for nearly 1 hour waiting. If it’s 15-20 mins late that’s one thing, but when it’s approaching 1 hr and we’re just sitting there while they clean the room on my dime, that’s a bad deal to me. At that point you need to offer your guests a 10% discount if it goes that long, we just received what I can only describe was a half-hearted apology. Not from who we believed was Beth, but the woman that was cleaning and went over some things when we finally got in. I’ve never been forced to wait beyond the normal check-in time at any hotel ever. Now taking all that into consideration, the remainder of the stay was acceptable enough that I wouldn’t detour anyone from staying. Hopefully this was a rare occasion for them and the fact it wasn’t really handled all that well hopefully is an indication they don’t have much experience with this. Yes the view is nice and breakfast the next morning was above average. Not sure how this compares to staying in town but it’s close enough provided there’s no winter weather with the hilly drive up that way. Overall I’d say go for it, just make sure to call ahead to ensure things will be ready. I have a feeling had we done that ourselves things may have turned out differently but I guess it didn’t dawn on us we would need to.
