I left a shaving kit behind and it took 2 weeks for me to get credit card statement to identify where I staied. I called and they had it and shipped it to me. Full of a few valuable (GPS, Bluetooth keyboards, many memour drives). Glad I didn't leave it in a large motel chain.

We had a reservation and when I checked in I told them that. He just told me to fill out the guest form. I asked again if they had a reservation and he just pointed tot he form.
The mattress was very hard and my wife could not sleep.
When I reviewed my credit card activity I had 2 charges - one for the room and one for missing the reservation.
I called and tried to explain but the language barrier was to great.
I called my credit card company and started a dispute.
I will never stay with this place again.

Bed was moderately firm and the shower was good, but the towels need to be upgraded. I appreciate having the sink and vanity outside the shower. I also liked using the mini fridge, microwave and in-room coffee. The TV was a wall mounted flat screen. Liked the wood flooring and updated bathroom but the furniture was well worn. AC unit was pretty loud, which is helpful in drowning out the traffic noise. There were a few items provided for breakfast, but we walked over to McDonalds instead. People in Iola are very friendly and seem to appreciate the business. The location of the motel is convenient for riding the Prairie Spirit trail. For one night, I thought it was just fine.

I can not recommend this motel unless you are desperate. They do not have a computer system and use the old style of you writing your information on cards upon check in. I booked through Expedia but had to pay upon arrival since they do not have a computer system. The parking lot is full of craters. There is no carpet which is probably a plus. I was put on the far side of the motel which is basically in the parking lot of a chinese restaurant. There was no inside security latch for the door and the wi-fi crashed soon after logging in. The door needs some weather stripping if nothing else than to cover the large cracks around the door. The toilet would not flush unless you worked with the mechanism a bit inside the tank. It was raining so hard I did not attempt to change rooms. Maybe the others are better? A fridge and microwave were in the room which was a surprise given the other conditions. To top it off there were smokers staying next door smoking in and outside the room of this non-smoking motel.

There are two motels in Iola, we made our choice based on the reviews of others. I'm happy to say we were not misled! The motel is an older style with each door opening to the outside. The room we booked was spacious and clean and well appointed. The beds comfortable, the shower nice, good television. I liked the fact that they had four chairs in our room. Plenty of comfortable seating for entertaining guests. The lobby is clean and the clerk pleasant and inviting. I was impressed with the way they operate the place. If there's anything I could knock it would be the universal problem that plagues motel rooms everywhere; the air conditioner is loud. I'm happy with our choice and would come back here again.
