I called on Sunday June 23rd, looking for a last minute reservation, to which unit #56 was available. I told the office that I had 3 children (2 teens and a 7 year old) coming along with my husband and myself. She said it was not a problem. She looked at the unit and stated that it had a bedroom, a pull out couch and a den with a futon. I also told her that we would probably be bringing 2 cars - there is an extra $5 per night fee to park the extra car. I also inquired as to the distance of the unit to the beach landing, due to my husband's disability status - she stated that is was very close - I was only looking at the map.
On arrival, the office staff was very pleasant - no issues, however when we arrived at the unit, there was only 1 parking space available, but neither of our vehicles fit on it, because it was in front of the only steps and access to the porch. While my husband and kids unload, I went back to the office to ask where we are supposed to park - but both office staff stated that there was no parking available and I could park out beside the road (A1A). I was not in agreement with that, as I had paid extra for a parking space that did not exist. They finally found a unit that would not have a vehicle for that night and stated that I could park there.
I returned to the unit, to discover that it only had a queen in the bedroom and a mini-pullout sofa - no den - and no where for the kids to sleep. We were trying to figure it out when the kids got excited and wanted to head on down to the beach . The unit was not even close to the beach - it was the next to last in line away from the beach and my husband was not able to make the trek safely.
It was also discovered at that time that the sliding glass doors did not work - so we all had to walk down the narrow hall way, maneuver around the tight fitting bed and through the bedroom door at all times.
The office was closed.
We decided to return home that night, because the kids were so disappointed - and luckily we lived relatively close.
The next morning, we returned with only 1 kid in tow and I stopped in to discuss the matters with the office staff:
1) the lack of the extra bed
2) the safety concern regarding the sliding glass door that didn't open
3) the lack of a parking space, that was paid for and didn't exist.
Their only response was that the unit is designed for 4 people, although I had made it clear that we had 3 kids in tow. There was no refunds, no exceptions and she had a lack of interest in our concerns.
She did send the maintenance man down to inspect the door, which he confirmed the rollers on the bottom were compromised, not to attempt to use the door. To repair it. would consist of the entire frame being removed for 1-2 days. We never heard back from anyone regarding this.
We turned the keys in 24 hours early due to lack of respect, misinformation, and total disappointment in the overall experience.
