We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Gwahumbe. The accommodation was amazing, we stayed in eagle's nest, which has an awesome infinity pool. Everything was clean and comfortable.
The views are beautiful. It is peaceful and quiet. The food was so delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful. I had a spa treatment, it was so relaxing, I loved it. My boys enjoyed bass fishing. We went on a game drive which we all loved and enjoyed, we saw a lot of animals and had snacks and a drink by a waterfall. On our exit this morning we saw 2 giraffe right outside the gate 🙂. I would really recommend Gwahumbe Spa & Game reserve.

Thank you for your super review Candice and boys. We are delighted you managed to have some happy pre lock down moments at Gwahumbe! If only we had known back then...... We are looking after this little piece of paradise while everyone is in confinement and look forward to seeing you back again soon. Stay safe! Love the Gwahumbe Team

Staff service was exceptional.. Roads are terrible if using a car. Only use 4x4 etc. No t.v so kids are bored when the sun went down. Very limited entertainment. No wi fi in rooms. Dont expect any cell signal if you use Telkom. Hot water issues from the time we arrived. Only attraction worth while was the pool and animals we saw. Couldnt even find the restuarant or spa. Would definitely say no value for money.

Great getaway from the city. Friendly staff, Ms Lily was exceptional. The meals were delicious served in a beautiful setting. The afternoon game drive was a delight with all the new young ones playfully doing their earthly business. The spa is definitely on the cards for my return trip. The warm summer evening was ended at the Serengeti suite in the private infinity pool overlooking the scenery of rolling hills.

We spent a weekend at Gwahumbe with 4 adults and 2 kids (5 & 6yrs) - we stayed in their Riverbend self catering cottage.

The cottage was very clean with 3 bedrooms all en-suite and a very well stocked self catering kitchen. (all beds were single)
The bathrooms were clean and well designed with windows over looking the amazing views.
Beds were comfortable but I found the pillows lacking and got a sore neck - maybe take your own pillow. The cottage had a splash pool - which the kids loved! And a boma (outside braai/fireplace area) which the adults loved! The nearest TV is at the main lodge so bring portable DVD players etc if your kids are addicted to TV.
Although we emailed the lodge prior to our visit informing them that we needed lots of wood for our evening braais/fireplace they ran out - which was a little disappointing. If you have men who are fire nuts my advice take your own firewood.

We went on a game drive and although the reserve is not populated with much game it was very pleasant driving through the area. We did see their resident rhino, zebra, wildebeest, impala, several duck & geese and missed their hippos. The ranger, Daniel was excellent and kept the kids and adults informed and entertained.

We have a great relaxed weekend and would definitely recommend Gwahumbe to any families not wanting to travel great distances from Durban.
