The location of this lodge is very good near a pan filled with water and attracting animals. The central area is nice and during dinner you can enjoy wildlife a few meters away. The tents are spacious and comfortable. The food is good. The gamedrives are very good but the lodge is rather far away from Khwai River where you can see most of the wildlife. However there are several attention points :
- although the website states that all tents have a view on the water , this is not true (our grown up kids had a tent with no view at all (avoid the two tents furthest away from the lodge)
- on arrival the staff said that WiFi is not always good : it is just not available (no issue but be clear about it)
- we stayed two nights and only the last morning we had warm water
- they completely mixed up laundry of different tents

So service can be improved.

Hyena Pan is a great place to stay. Accommodation is in large, comfortable, well-equiped permanent tent-cabins, each with an en-suite bathroom. Generator electricity is available for about four hours each evening.

A open-sided meals and rest building is centrally located. Meals are set menu and are excellent, particularly given the remote location. Take in your own wine or beer.

This isn't a super-luxury camp, with all the trimmings, but it is a comfortable and very well run establishment.

The magic is the location, adjacent to a pan (a shallow depression), which is established as a permanent waterhole. You will find animals coming down to the water, particularly later in the day. We regularly saw elephants and hyenas.

The camp isn't in Moremi, but in an adjacent concession, which has plenty of game. It's a fair drive in to Hyena from Khwai (about 1-5 to 2 hours).

Staff at Hyena provide excellent service.

We had the pleasure to stay 3 nights at Hyena Pan during our Botswana tour. These were - by far - the most enjoyable nights of the entire trip which took us 15 days trough Botswana and Zimbabwe. The tents are incredibly spacious, including a full-sized twin bed, a charging station for your electronics (great idea!) and leave enough room to comfortably walk around the bed past a lockable cupboard into the bathroom which features a very well working shower, a toilet and sink. The bathroom looks more like what you would expect in a designer hotel than in a tent.
The best part however is the raised platform. It includes the table for meals, some couches and lounge chairs and a small pool. And a view over the waterhole. During the first evening we were not sure what we could expect to see so close to the camp. Only half an hour later the first elephant appeared, seemingly out of nowhere. A great start, but we were even luckier, during the next 3 days we did see roughly 50 of them by our estimation, also a couple of giraffes, a rather curios honey badger, lots of birds, some mongooses and one night even a glimpse of a hyena.
And last but not least we need to mention the staff, clearly the best, most helpful and friendly that we have met during our stay in Botswana. And served amazing dinners, breakfast and lunches, meals with such variety and quality we didn’t expect in a camp.
If we should ever take another tour through Botswana this is clearly a place we would love to stay again.

Small and well appointed glamping experience in the Okovanga Delta. They have a water hole right by the deck/ dining room so you can watch the elephants from a very close distance while eating breakfast etc. They have a hide which gives you an amazing up close view of the wildlife including elephants. Great staff and guides just quite a drive each day to see most of the animals

The fabulous Hyena Pan provided the perfect start to a wonderful Safari holiday. The staff were welcoming and warm hearted. Tandy, the manager, sat with us for dinner and gave us insights into local life. The tented rooms were attractive, clean and comfortable and our room 6 was private and had an uninterrupted view of the pan. The food was good. There were lovely seating areas including around a camp fire where we could watch the game close by coming up to the pan. A small pool provided an opportunity for a dip to cool off or the Ellies for a sneaky evening drink! Olly, our lovely guide, was great at spotting some of the more elusive game. The Moremi game reserve was a pristine delight teeming with animals. I should like to have stayed longer and would love to return.
