What can one day? Improving upon perfection is simply impossible. Located in the plush suburb of Constanta, this is a guest house that simply goes far beyond what what might expect. Lovely suites. A sparkling pool. A lovely little pub area with free drinks during happy hour. Did I mention breakfast?
I have seen the world. I have done AirBnB in the USA, Canada, Germany, UK and across SA. This is the final word.
If you are coming to Cape Town for the first time or if you are a regular, come put your feet up. They will have a glass of wine waiting for you.
I am a long time traveller and have stayed in the best resorts, private islands and guesthouses around the world. Constantia Stables is on top of my favourite list for many reasons. Lola is one stunning person. Her breakfasts the BEST in the world. I have never seen so many jam,tea choices for an establishment this size. A garden to die for. We stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage which had everything in it you need. Clean and very comfortable. I highly recommend Constantia Stables to any person travelling to Cape Town. It feels as if you staying on a small farm in the city. Great location as you close to everything.
The Stables is a wonderful B&B on a quiet cup -de sac in Constantia. Its entrance is this green tunnel, giving acces to a large and lush garden. It is on a large plot, with 4 rooms (all own entrance from outside) in the main building and 2 cottages (1 is self catering, but breakfast is included anyway). All the room are decorated in accordance with the building, which gives the whole place an excellent atmosphere. Rooms are clean and well serviced every day. We were in the pony stable and the beds were ever so comfortable.
The hostess, Lola, is a wonderful lady who is very hospitable and friendly. There is a little get together with the other guests every night before everyone sets off to dinner and it is in the soy bar area, where Lola keeps the conversation going and has great recommendations for eateries. She does excellent breakfasts, with loads of fruit, the biggest selection of jams and marmelades and very yummy cooked breakfasts.
Highly recommended for its location, safety, rooms and hostess.
The Stables is a hidden gem in Constantia. It literally is hidden, as you cannot see it at all from the road. The drive starts at the end of the cul-de-sac and requires some precise navigating. It leads you through the lush garden up to the parking area and main house. Be prepared to meet one of the friendliest and kindest hostesses of the Cape provence: Lola Bartlett. She is a wonderful person, for whom no effort is too much. She has extensive knowledge of the area, Cape Town, restaurants, wineries etc. The Stables only has about 7 rooms, that are cottage-sale decorated in a very tasteful way. 5 of them are on the ground floor, and two are up one flight of stairs. All the rooms situated away from each other, so no neighbourly snoring at night. There is a lovely pool and lots of room for outside sitting. Breakfast is extensive, Lola does the cooking herself. The selection of fruits is delicious and the selection of jams and marmelades overwhelming.
Guests (a lot of them have been coming here for a long time) are invited to mingle in the bar area for pre dinner drinks. The Stables are highly recommended.
25 Minutes from the airport you find a literally hidden gem in the upscale residential area of Constantia. Surrounded by big trees you do not see any neighboring house after you mastered the narrow and long driveway. Lola is a fantastic host that brings her guests together like a family. The house is filled with books, family photos, guides, and memorabilia. Breakfast is as British as can be, plus a wide range of excellent fresh fruit, jams, and marmelade. We stayed in a "Tree house" room, having all the comforts (however no shower, just a bathtub), and plenty of light through many windows. What a great experience so different from the standard hotel chains.
