During our stay in Cape Town we were allowed to spend 4 nights in Rosedene Guest House. The hotel is very centrally located and all sights are within a few minutes drive. Innumerable restaurants are also within walking distance. We stayed in the family room, which is actually a row house with its own kitchen. The rooms are lovingly furnished and offer the necessary comfort. Also the living room is cosy and the two wet cells are excellent for a family.
The hotel has a beautiful garden, which invites you to relax. The small pool also offers a wonderful cooling off. The breakfast buffet is extensive and very tasty. The hotel also fulfilled our special request to pack our breakfast for the hike on Table Mountain. Finally, we already started at 06.00 o'clock. Also we could use the daily Wine Tasting.
The always friendly staff is also to be emphasized. From the check-in to the breakfast and the cleaning staff. Everything always helpful and friendly.
Internet signal was strong. Only and alone the electricity failed at times. But unfortunately this is due to the electricity problems of the city. The hotel informed us if always early or installed candles depending on the time of day.
Since we parked our rental car on the hotel's own parking lots, we used exclusively the hotel's recommended driver "Tiger" for the sights in the city center. One of a kind! Tiger is super punctual, always available and a perfect driver. Especially we enjoyed his joy of life! If you feel the same way and want to leave the car behind, book Tiger! You will not regret it!
Many thanks to the whole team - Rosedene Guest House is absolutely recommendable!
Calm and nice location.
Lovely garden with lot of space for relaxation.
Nice (but cold) pool, perfect for a plunge after a long, warm day.
Nice decor, clean and comfortable beds.
Friendly staff.
Lovely view of Table Mountain, Lions Head.
Great breakfast with lots of choices, loved all the fresh fruits and the eggs made on order.
Lovely stay!
We had a wonderful stay here at rosedene guest house. The staff are extremely friendly with great recommendations and the street is very quiet. The cottages are beautifully decorated and have a great rustic feel to it. The breakfast is outstanding and has a wonderful range of food. The owners and staff are so welcoming and make it an absolute pleasure to stay here. We have an absolutely amazing view of table mountain and can sit outside and enjoy the view. There is a fantastic garden which looks stunning and has a small pool to cool off or get your day started. All in all I think this is an unique and individual guest house and there is nothing else like it. I have fallen in love with it and I’m sure you will to.
We booked cottage 24 for our family of 4 (2 teens); based on the glowing reviews.
Our impression of the cottage is that is should be rated as a 3 star. For a similar price range, we stayed at 2 other places in the Cape during the same holiday which were by FAR superior.
PROS : very centrally located; nice view of Table Mountain from the outside lounge area; beautiful garden filled withe avocado and lemon trees; cosy pool area; friendly staff member arranged a birthday cupcake and the staff sang to my teen; they arranged special halaal meat for breakfast; good breakfast; rooms clean and neat
CONS : parking outside the building only; our bedroom window next to busy road and speedsters flying over speed bumps all hours off the night; main toilet door kept getting stuck; no toilet roll holder or towel holder or enough counter space to store toiletries in bathroom; sink was very low; no voile on main door only curtain so privacy issue; no voile / blind on kitchen window so any passers by can see right through; bathroom blind closes 75% so with lights on its a privacy issue; the power adapter in main bedroom was falling off the wall; the tub sofa chair was very uncomfortable; mirror high up in main bedroom slanted downwards together with poor lighting had to use mirror in main bath (no other mirror so 4 of us used one); website says complimentary wine bottle if you book direct (we were not offered one : we dont drink but would have appreciated sparkling grape juice instead); I walked out of my room and a staff member was standing in the lounge (he did not ask anyone permission to enter before going to check the bar fridge)!; the 2nd bathroom was OUTSIDE the cottage - the 2nd bathroom "shack"' door kept on swinging open so we were all forced to share the main bathroom; the kitchen and overall look of the cottage was very shabby and drab ... definitely not rustic; no generator in case of power cuts.
I think the 2nd bathroom and kitchen pictures of the cottages closeup must be shown in the website. Not up to 4 star standards.
I have been in Cape Town since December and stayed in six places. Including a five star hotel with wonderful staff. However, this place is my favourite. In Seapoint which is the best of all worlds. From this place you do not see the sea, but then nor do you have the noise of the traffic. It is a haven of peace but also a short walk to shops and restaurants and the sea. Seapoint pool is nearby and also Posticino and la Perla to eat. Also paragliding and the tour buses for the wine route just down the road and easy access to the Waterfront and all the sailing and shopping and restaurants there. Personal service, small but peaceful and warm pool with sun loungers, bathrobes and cooked breakfasts and fresh coffee. Highly recommended if you appreciate the personal touch.
