Nkala Lodge welcomes you with a stylish communal reception area opening out onto various outside braais, seating areas and a pool.
The huge reception area consists of a lounge, dining area, bar and fully equipped self catering kitchen (with a creative young chef always eager to help with food preparation and cooking). All staff at Nkala are friendly and well-trained.
Outside the reception area are six spacious free-standing sparkling clean stone and thatch suites. Each suite is equipped with amazing amenities, uniquely decorated with thoughtful touches each with its own private patio, overlooking the tranquil bushveld landscape.
The highlight of this lodge is certainly the resident game ranger, Ella. She loves to share her knowledge of the local animals with you - whether she takes you out on a game drive or joins you at the lodge's look-out deck by the watering hole. Nkala Lodge has access to both the Black Rhino Game Reserve and Pilanesberg National Park.
A unique stay in the Pilanesberg not to be missed!
A bush experience without comparison- the staff are efficient yet unobtrusive, Golden’s cooking is exceptional, Ella’s guiding outstanding.
Each room is private with attention to detail at every turn.
10 Star service and Lodge yet you’re made to feel like family.

Nkala is a magical place. I went with my husband and children (ages 6 and 2) and some friends with their children. It was wonderful for the children as they were really catered for. Anything you needed for them was there. Toys, puzzles, books, a cot, changing table, kiddie soaps, a jungle gym, bikes and a covered pool. Everything you want to take on holiday but can’t... it was all there!
The rooms are extremely luxurious ! 5 star accommodation! The beds are very comfortable. They are beautiful and attention to detail is perfect. They had nespresso coffee machines in every room. Big bonus!
We stayed in the honeymoon suite which was magnificent. But so are all the other rooms which I had a chance to explore. The main house, feels like, home away from home. Again every little detail thought of.
We enjoyed just hanging out and lounging around.
We had such a great time on every game drive, thanks to Ella. The game ranger who went above and beyond to educate us and show us as much as possible. She was also fantastic with the kids.
This was a very special holiday for our family and there are no words to truly express how much we love Nkala. We will definitely be back soon!
What an absolute pleasure to spend the weekend at Nkala.
The lodge itself is beautifully furnished with quality furniture and designer pieces as well as top class finishings. It is air-conditioned throughout for your comfort. The living areas are luxurious and well equipped whether you are sharing with friends, business partners or family. The bedrooms are airy and light with plush bedding for a restful nights sleep after an exciting day of game viewing. The bathrooms are positively indulgent, with lavish finishings and featuring a deep bath with a views and an outdoor shower for that real one-with-nature experience. Every amenity is well thought out, your every whim catered for and more. Cleaning staff are friendly, polite and keep the lodge spotless.
Outdoor areas are well maintained by the garden staff and include a salt-water pool, playground for the youngsters and my favourite, a viewing deck overlooking a watering hole so close you could smell the wildlife. This is also monitored by cctv camera on display in the main living area – just in case you miss something.
We had a wonderful game ranger for the weekend who took us on 2x daily trips out between Black Rhino Game Reserve and bordering Pilansberg National Park. She was incredibly attentive and informative, even tracking down lions for us. Not your standard game drive. Our chilly early morning drive was made pleasant with blankets and hot water bottles as well as a pit-stop for a warm drink and a leg stretch, while the evening drive stop is tailor made for sundowners with a view. We had incredible sightings of lion, elephant, brown hyena and more. Excellent free wifi back at the lodge means you can upload your pics to share with friends and family.
Highly recommended for the wildlife lover with a taste for the better things in life.
