I am from the UK and when planning my route from Botswana to the Kruger Park. I needed a place close to the Phalaborwa Gate of The Kruger Park for a couple of night’s relaxation. I noted The Hans Merensky Nature Reserve on the map and saw that it was listed as ‘hot springs’.But I really struggled to find any further information and the Google search brought up The Hans Merensky Hotel & Spa in Phalaborwa, it looked good but it was not what I had in mind. Then under the information listed about the nature reserve I saw there was a Spa there and after a lot of searching found the ATKV Holiday Resort of Eiland Spa.
Located on the banks of The Letaba River, Eiland Spa was perfect, because of its location it is sunny and warm all year.
It is a large resort with lots of different accommodation options, including camping. The accommodation is in round self catering huts, We booked one that slep 2. It had a fully equipped kitchen on the veranda, twin beds in the bedroom, TV and a bathroom. Outside was a sitting area with table chairs and a BBQ.
On the resort its self there was lots to do. There are a few naturally warm mineral pools, one with a slide and a very hot indoor hydrotherapy pool, with steam room, sauna and a gym. A Mini golf course, bowling green, fishing lake, rugby pitch, tennis courts, horse riding. There is an onsite shop, and it was not overpriced but did have limited supplies, a restaurant, ice cream parlour/ fast food outlet as well as what looked like conference facilities.
The accommodation its self is basic but it was comfortable and clean. The resort did look at little run down, there were a few chipped tiles in the pool and the decor was stuck in the 1980s, but all of the staff were helpfull and at £15.00 per person per night, it was fantastic value for money. It was a good choice for a few nights to stop and rest and do very little.

We have visited all the ATKV Resorts except for Natalia Resort and this is by far the best of the lot. Not easy to find on the map and not close to any towns, so make sure you take with you want you need for your stay as the shop has limited goods for sale on hand. The chalet's have been upgraded and have superb views from the windows. braai outside etc., Good pool facilities as usual, sauna and steam room. putt putt etc., Hans Merensky Nature Reserve drive is quite nearby.

This well located family resort is situated in the warm Limpopo Province, close to the town of Tzaneen. Accommodation ranges from well equipped campsites with good facilities and ablution blocks, rondawel type self catering accommodation (basic and upgraded). Great entertainment next to the swimming pools (hot and cold), ample things to do for the children - putt putt, trampolines, heated, indoor swimming pool with sauna and steam room. One of the best 'super tube rides' in the country. Tennis courts etc. Typical bush veld atmosphere with fires burning as the sun sets. Great value for money. Never a dull and boring moment. Afrikaans orientated resort, but not excluding any other spoken languages.

A lovely stay - Well equiped rondavels - DSTV - Clean sheets - kitchenettes shower room - the accomodation is not luxurious but very reasonable and supplies everything you need - the main attraction about this resort is the hot springs - there is a large outside hot mineral pool and an inside hydro with a gym that looks like it has never been used - the restaurant and take away are simple enough if you dont want to self cater - no meals available on a Sunday night and too far from town so take supplies - we had very little info about this place and couldnt find it on the sat nav so pull out a map - its almost like they want to keep it a secret but all the people friendly and helpful once you are in we had two nights here and would definately go back- we just wanted somewhere to thaw out and rest.
