I had a wonderful stay and the staff were really friendly and attentive. The room was spacious, bright and clean. The pool is great and the garden is beautifully well kept. The central location makes it really easy to get around the city . I will definitely be back

Small Hotel in Johannesburg Business Area. The location of the hotel is good and next to a big shopping centre. Not a 5 stars hotel. The rooms are big and the bed is comfortable. I didn't like my room as it couldn't be blacked out! the curtains do not cover the side window. The food was average, nothing special. We very much enjoyed the driver who took us on a day tour. He was very professional and knowledgeable. The pool is extremely small.
There is missing the small luxury details of a 5 star hotel.

Dear Tanya I, On behalf of the staff and management of The Winston Hotel, I would like to thank you for staying with us. We are disappointed to hear that you were not entirely pleased with your stay. I can assure you that we are a 5 star hotel and have been awarded this rating as we do comply with 5 star standards. I am most surprised by your comments regarding our curtains as we do have a black out curtain behind the curtains in all rooms. We have a long lap pool in our gardens for our guests to enjoy, it is very visible on our website and all social media. We have not had any complaints over the size of our pool. Our staff and management do their utmost to ensure that our guests enjoy their stay. Should you have any concerns or require any assistance our team is always on hand and eager to help. I hope this addresses your concerns. Warm regards,

Stayed two lovely nights at the Winston after arriving from Australia. The hotel organized our airport transfers and Charles was excellent, on time and a very safe driver.

The hotel reception and all staff were very friendly and helpful with any request.

We ate our breakfasts and dinner once in the restaurant and it was very tasty (my husband thoroughly enjoyed his Springbok shank). The breakfast was included in our rate and included a good selection of hot dishes, we enjoyed our omelettes very much.

The hotel itself is very comfortable and its gardens and pool make it feel instantly very relaxing - you would not know you are in a big city.

The location is close to the nearby mall where you can start the Red bus hop on/off city tour.

Highly recommended for a relaxing stay in Johannesburg.

This intimate boutique hotel in the heart of Johannesburg is the perfect place to stay. From the moment we were picked up at the airport in a luxury sedan (which I highly recommend) we felt cared for. The hotel rooms are large and beautifully designed and appointed in a colonial Africa style - just perfect. A lovely breakfast on the patio overlooking the pool topped it off. The courtyard provides a soothing internal view and creates the feeling of a sanctuary. The entire property is behind a large wall with razor wire and secured by a guarded gate providing us with a secure feeling.

just returned from a 3 night stay at the winston. It is a beautiful property very close to the Rosebank mall. It’s a very small property with rooms on 2 levels surrounding the garden and lap pool. The restaurant also looks out to the pool and gardens. The setting was absolutely stunning. My room was beautiful, and had a feeling of Africa, with a wooden 4 poster bed, and dark wooden floors. Very large bathroom with both shower and a bath. Each night they came in and turned down the bed and left a nougat On the bedside table. They had complimentary African hand made robes that you could use, and could also be purchased (I wish I had done this - as I didn’t find these anywhere else) Service was excellent throughout. Staff were on hand at all times and couldn’t do enough for you. I ate in the restaurant one evening and room service on another, both times were excellent. I would definitely stay here if I returned, as it was just so much nicer and more personal than one of the large corporate hotels in the area. Thank you all for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: I would have requested a room with the balcony facing the gardens. Buy the robe !
