Always to go hotel when i stay on the Bund. Walking distance to SinarMas plaza, a shopping mall you can get everything. Nice view of Lujiazui from my room. Just one thing is there is a construction opposite, but other than that its a good place to stay.
We stayed here for one night before moving to another part of Shanghai.
Check in was a long wait. Two people only and the people before us took a really long time. By the time it was our check in turn there were easily twelve people behind us.
We checked in and had to pay a small amount for tax. Maybe 60 rmb. The clerk wouldn’t take cash from me and told me I could only use Alipay or Wechat pay. WHAT? Since when do supposed five star hotels don’t take legal currency ??? Luckily I could use my phone to pay even I didn’t want to.
Room was nice. On a high floor. Good view as always. Had the basic necessities- big tv. Safe. Bathtub. Shower. Etc.
THE NOISE on the other hand was terrible. Construction going on 24/7 across the street. Hotel gives you some ear plugs but forgetaboutit the noise is loud all night and wakes you up. Cranes and screeching and trucks making noise. All night. Then about 7-8am it goes to full blown noise.
Because of the construction noise I wouldn’t recommend to stay at the Hyatt on the Bund until this project is over. I didn’t have a good sleep at all and was happy that we had to leave at 11am to go somewhere.
We thought this would be an amazing place to celebrate NYE 2020. It was ok, but definitely not 5-star. There’s a big construction project underway 24/7 directly opposite the hotel spoiling not only the view but any chance of a good nights sleep - the hotel provides free ear plugs!?! Long queues for check-in and breakfast. The hotel rooms are dark and very dated. My friend’s room flooded the first time she took a shower. The hotel is overheated and Chinese restrictions do not allow air-con during winter so my room was uncomfortably hot. The solution - open a window (see photos), a fan with ice water could be sent to the room, or change rooms. The staff were fantastic - attentive, friendly and English speaking - but could not make up for the problems. Great location but there are less expensive hotels offering much better value for money. Overall a very China experience.
We stayed for one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we heard so many great reviews we decided to stay here. Sadly I was a little disappointed overall with the hotel. Please see below the pros and cons.
High floor so fantastic view, one of the best!
Late check out
Free car parking
Buffet breakfast was great and diverse
Big clean gym
Good sauna, cold plunge pool, jacuzzi
First room we checked in smelt of tobacco, but we changed to another room
Second room was better but it smelt a little moldy. We couldn’t be bothered to move again.
One wall had a damp patch which caused the mold.
We had the river view facing the Bund but had a construction site below so the cranes obstructed the view which was a shame.
Had to pay for toothbrushes and toothpaste so bring your own toiletries
Bedding could have been better
Female steam room didn’t work
Run down hotel with some leakage and damp ceilings, these should be fixed.
We called up the night before to request for gluten free bread for breakfast next morning but on the phone staff did not understand so my husband didn’t get the gluten free next morning.
Had a pleasant stay but as a 5 star international hotel I would have expected more.
We stayed at this Hyatt for three days, loved the view in the room, and the food at grand club is so much better than most of the Hyatt club we’ve been to. We want to thank Jimmy Ji and Vivi at the grand club for accommodating our needs and providing superior service. They made our stay relaxing and hassle free.
