The room setups are great and housekeeper gave extra bottles of water and a cut wrapped up rabbit. Spent a wonderful time here. Also the room has excellent city night view and all staffs here are so friendly.
First time stay at the Shanghai Portman RC and it should be the excellent experience in my entire business trip. The club studio room I booked is unique and clean. And the lounge is amazing as well; the food they present at happy hour is awesome. Especially I was invited by Angus to try the Spring roll on the special day in lunar calendar. I am quite interested to know some typical food except some well-known festivals. Even though it’s short stay but still memorable, if possible I will choose here again.
I use to travel a lot all over the world and especially in China. I needed to find a great place to stay in Shanghai. I am Titanium Elite member on Marriott group. At the beginning, i chose The Portman mainly for his location. Finally, my choice was the right one especially for the club. The staff in the club is really amazing. They do all what they can in order to let you feel comfortable. It was so good to feel like at home. The food was always fine. I would like to give a special award to Lucile, Angel and Stark. Their kindness as well as their professionalism was amazing.
The room although a bit old stay confortable. The Ritz-Carlton bed is still the best one. The bar is very nice and warm. I am so glad to find my new home in Shanghai....
It's my first time writing reviews on tripadvisor but I wanted to shout out to my favorite hotel in Shanghai now :) I stayed in Portman for three nights with fantastic welcome surprises from both Chinese and foreign managers.
Service: I want to especially say thanks to Mr. Andrian Paz. He welcomed me during the check-in and after knowing that I would be visiting Disneyland during the stay, he kindly gave five cute ritz-lion key chains to me and my friends. Also he notified me about the road closure during my stay, sending me messages promptly and making my experience out of exception and feeling at home.
Location: West Nanjing Road (hey it's the heart of Shanghai)
Room: I selected the most basic room type but because I'm an elite member for Mariott Bonvoy, I got a free upgrade to a city-view room during check-in. The interior was a bit old but never lacked luxuries, though I was a bit concerned that the maintenance on the above floor created a few noises during the day. The
Dining: I asked for the in-room dining and they promptly responded to my call at midnight. initially asked for oat milk latte but they didn't serve it in the end (I could understand that chefs were busy preparing food in the morning).
Price: decent and absolutely worth it.
Overall: Portman Ritz surprised me decently from every single perspective. I've lived in several luxury hotels in Shanghai (including another ritz at Lujiazui) but Portman Ritz was among the best because of its decent price range and services because every staff here cares about you and your experience.
The room is clean, especially the staff there paid attention to every detail. The facilities are also well-functioned. The location is at the center of the Shanghai where you can feel the historical charm. Strongly recommend for either leisure and business.
