The whole hotel gives you a relaxed vibe. For one, you could sit and listen to music while enjoying free drinks and snacks in the lounge. For another, after taking a hot bath in the onsen, you can further relax yourself with the comfort of massage chair.
The reception is welcoming and helpful (note: I speak a little bit of Japanese). The room is well-maintained and spacious. The supper is flavorful, while the breakfast buffet is also enjoyable.
Beautiful place. Staff speaks little or no English at all. Be prepared for zero communication thru email as no one seems to read or bother to reply. Once book, just go and be surprise, that’s what we set our mind since no reply from hotel abt bus pickup, dinner arrangement etc. we did have a great time despite all these thou. Limited private onsen ( cost 2500 yen per room of 2-3 or 3-4) slot available a day. So book that first thing upon arrival. Free foot onsen up hill and down. Nothing much to do around thou. Just enjoy slow down time n good for relaxation.
This is what we wanted. Jozankei is an onsen town just out of Sapporo, full of tourists. We booked a Japanese style room with breakfast and Kaiseki dinner included, which was not cheap but for a treat worth every cent. The room was huge, and after dinner when we came back to our room our beds were laid out beautifully.
The Kaiseki dinner was delicious, although we felt it was just dumped in front of us all at once and was very difficult for us to know exactly what and how we were eating. Not really much finesse as I had expected. The breakfast was ordinary.
We booked a private onsen bath - fabulous, but then we were told of the additional fee. Still worth it for a genuine hot springs experience.
Hana-Momiji Onsen Hotel
Big room. CLEAN! Beautiful! Food was first class ( because we choose expensive package ?) Beautiful downstairs Onsen too, unfortunately meant to be used by women. Men can use it only between 6-9 am. ( and this also includes breakfast time at 7 am.) Surrounding was beautiful. Staff really scurried to help you. Difficult to find this these days unless you own the hotel.
Breakfast was also beautiful, mainly Japanese though. Just get by western. You should learn to enjoy local dishes and local customs anyhow, otherwise why bother to go traveling.
The hotel is well maintained. The interior is much better than how it looks from its exterior outlook.
Japanese family room is very big and spacious. Japanese tea set, cake, tatami, etc.. the children get to explore, learn and enjoy it very much. Put on the Yukata and explore the hotel is a different experience for the kids too.
Enjoy both the private and public onsen. The public onsen at L12 is big and L1 onsen is nice too.
Breakfast offer many choices. There are many flavors of ice cream too which many din't realize. Kaiseki dinner was great with a slightly different menu for children.
WiFi only available at the lobby (you might still get free wifi signal if you are near to the window of your room) where they provide drinks at another corner while you are surfing or enjoying some light music.
