The "deluxe" room stinks like an ash-tray; the first of dozens of hotels I've stayed at where I found fecal matter at the bottom of the toilet bowl; The shampoo dispenser in the shower never actually had any shampoo in it (see the photo); and the first white towel I used looked stained, or worse, not properly washed.
Yet, my worst experience was being told, by a hotel worker, that I couldn't sit in a particular region - the bar area - of the lobby. It was "for hotel staff only". Let me emphasise that this wasn't a staffroom, nor a separate chamber in the hotel. This WAS the lobby. 25 countries, dozens of hotels, and I've never seen such a bizarre setup, for which they could have at least used a sign. Perhaps it was the worker's chillout zone, because all I watched them do was sit and use their phones.
I'm not sure whether to interpret this experience as xenophobia or a lack professionalism, or both. I was tempted to call out the lack of professionalism then and there, then realised I still need to retain my ¥200 deposit (which I was unaware I needed to pay) by tomorrow's checkout. What I do know is that this hotel has many desperate Africans as guests. The staff probably advance this as a license for being disrespectful to all guests. Regardless, this is not a hotel for Westerners, nor for self-respecting Chinese.
Stayed in this hotel after two years. Still the same as it was two years ago, no improvement, instead its on a down slide. Surroundings around this hotel are full of people who have come to Guangzhou for business, thus you have cargo agents dotting buildings around it. If you have come to Guangzhou as a tourist, its better to stay somewhere else, which are cleaner areas. As a business traveler on a shoe string budget, this hotel fits the bill. The rooms are very dimly lit with only two bedside lights. The bed mattresses are hard and the air conditioners take almost an hour to cool the room. Location wise centrally located in town with major markets near by
My first visit to Guangzhou and I had heard this hotel was surrounded by good environments & Indian restaurant.
Being a indian with all my family with me this place seems to be perfect with all indian restaurant around .
The hospitality in this place is pathetic , they had a issue me being in a room with my mother & sister
Even having more than 1 bag .
The hotel staff will take a deposit from you while you enter the hotel and pay you back on checkout
But the MONEY THEY GAVE WAS FAKE !!
So cunningly the lady staff on 9/11/2018 morning showed me the money and then passed it through the money machine showing everything is fine !
“Those money bills were FAKE!! , 300 yuan she gave me of duplicate counterfeit money. “
I have the money with me , I was in a rush as my cab was waiting outside & so I didn’t see the numbers were same on the cash/bill . I would request everyone not to visit here ever! If you want to be safe
If a company can do such a thing to foreigner customers then you cannot trust anyone in the country !
Dongyue is hotel is good, Indians get easy availability of food as you many indian restuarants nearby, but rooms are not very good, room service is bad, however the location is good, but one can search options nearby..
Thanks
i visit the place in month of august 2016, stay was fine rooms are clean but need upgradation
hotel is situated among good indian restaurants
during my visit only 1 out of 2 lifts are operational that to capacity of 7-10 persons which will take 10-15 minutes wait in lobby to reach to the room
location is well known to taxi drivers and all the main markets are near by
hotel staff is rigid but thats the case for all nearby hotels.
