We stayed at Ho Aloha for 3 nights, two dads with our daughters, and couldn’t have been more impressed with the owner Nao-san’s friendliness and hospitality. The rooms were basic but clean and decorated in a bright, fun style.
From arrival, it was clear the girls were going to love it here as Nao gave them the key to our room and they raced to find the door that matched the purple key fob.
The guest house also has a large common room with a kids corner full of toys, games and a piano. Outside, there is a children’s trampoline which also saw plenty of use.
The hotel staff were always happy to give advice on where to eat or activities to try. We borrowed kayaks for an adventure out to the blue cave, and took our host’s advice on some really good spots to eat at close by. They had a kitchen for guests to use so we cooked outlet own breakfast every morning. Great for feeding picky kids! Fusaki beach resort just round the corner was another great recommendation, with a lovely new pool, jet ski rentals and great snorkelling just off the beach.
Overall, couldn’t have been happier with our stay, and would recommend to anyone looking for a chilled out, friendly spot to stay with kids on a budget.
Good location away from the city, helpful and friendly staff with good information about where to go and what to do on this lovely island.
Clean room and spacious, good wifi coverage and self-service washing machine options.
The staff was nice and very helpful. He provided many useful information on the local restaurants and beach.
The room was smaller than it showed on the pictures. The bathroom was tiny.My kids stumbled over the step and fell between the bathroom and the bedroom.
There is construction site next door and made noise during the daytime.
We stayed in Ho Aloha during July 2016. Having not travelled to Japan before and without being able to speak Japanese, we were a little worried we had pushed our trip beyond our abilities.
Ho Aloha really go the extra mile, including helping us with hiring a car, suggesting places to go on Ishigaki and other island and places to eat.
The rooms have most of what we needed, we missed having an iron, we got around that. The air conditioning control is in Japanese, the first night we didn't notice it, the second we just got it working, the third night wonderful! Internet access isn't available in your room.
The buses from the airport are an issue. You catch two buses, one from the airport to the bus station and from the bus station to Ho Aloha. The later isn't often enough, I recommend getting a taxi (approx.1,000 Yen). If you're going to make the most of Ho Aloha and Ishigaki, hire a car.
Oh, they make a wonderful Hibiscus drink and staff and boss (Nao) are really amazing! stay chilled guys!
Many thanks Ho Aloha
I stayed at this guest house with my families, it was a special experience. Good location and beautiful view, pretty room, nice breakfast, and kindly owner and her family! And good restaurant (Funakura no sato) is just near this guest house. Our kids enjoyed shell painting. I want to visit again one day.
