Absolutely awful. The 'hotel' is a glorified hostel, situated at the back of a shop. If I could give this place zero stars I would. We were told that we could check in early at 1pm, only to arrive and be told the previous people in our room had not checked out yet so we had to wait. That was fine and not their fault. However, we saw the couple check out and within 10 minutes our room was ready. I'm sorry but 10 minutes to fully clean a room is not long enough for it to be clean and I was right. The floor was dirty, the bathroom dirty and the only thing the cleaner had done is change the sheets. The shower did not work and was just a trickle coming out of a tap on the wall. The electric switches were coming off the wall and definitely a hazard and the beds.... Oh the beds. It would be comfier to sleep on the floor. Honestly, it was like concrete, not a chance you would get a decent night's sleep on those beds. We've stayed in low cost hotels before with hard beds but this was something else. We ended up checking out a few hours later and cancelled our booking on booking.com for free. However when handing the keys in, the receptionist tried to say we owed them one nights fee. He then rang the manager who spoke to us over the phone and was extremely rude, demanding we pay the fee for a one night stay and that if we wanted to cancel then we needed to have done it before 6pm. At no point was this explained to us and at no point did we fill in a check in sheet or sign anything at check in. Therefore I let the receptionist take a photo of our cancellation and we found a nicer hotel up the road. Do yourself a favour, do not book this hotel.
Me and my partner got to the hotel and was greeted by friendly staff. The room was great and the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom and bedroom was clean. We also took advantage of the free baggage storage and we will be returning. We couldn’t ask for more. The price was very low for the quality, service and location I would have paid double! We recommend this place to stay. Thanks To the Olive hotel team. Liam and Louise
A last minute booking to this hotel for one night and we Don t regret it. The room was spacious and had a good air-conditioning. The bathroom was outdated. Their laundry service is excellent: Not expensive (1 dollar / kg) and fast (we gave it in the evening and at 9am we received our fresh clothing back). The people running the place are really sweet.
We had an excellent stay at Olive Hotel Hanoi. The location is fantastic, right where you want to be in the Old Quarter, but away from the 'party' hostels. Kathy (pronounced Katie), went out of her way to make sure all our needs were met: recommended great places to eat, as well as helped us organise transport to our next destination. Don't believe the negative reviews, it seems that renovations have been made since then, but we did notice a couple of are rooms still being updated. In our room, however, the bed was comfortable with fresh, clean linen and towels, decent aircon and a balcony. The whole place still has a lovely Old Quarter character feel to it.
My boyfriend and I rented a room there for four night. The first night, the room was not so great. We told the owner. He was so nice and he really cares about his customers. He apologized and he explained that they were doing some renovations. He finally gave us a 10% discount and we changed room for a fresh new one. Because it was winter there, it was cold and so he offered us a heater fan. He also invited us diner with them but we had plans already. They also did our laundry for a good price.
After all the renovations, I'm sure this hotel will be really charming. It has a good location, right in the middle of old Hanoi. For the price, the good location and the lovely staff there, I recommand it.
Thank you for your kindness,
Dominic and Sam
